They're a bit more... spirited... on that forum. LOL but it does make for an interesting read  2funny I've learned that the cops don't wanna talk to you more than they have to, so if you act nicely, you can talk your way out of pretty much anything (once got a 105 in a 70 reduced to 80 in a 70... only about a $300 savings)

To quote Bob Dylan "They don't need you and they expect the same".

That being said, so far, every time I've been pulled over for speeding on a bike the cop has been a good, friendly guy. Also, it's always been a cop who rides, guess I’ve been lucky there. After a little friendly talking as bikers do it's always been a warning and "have a good ride, I'll be doing the same when I get off duty" or something similar.

But if I had started off being an "A hole" or made them nervous by not keeping my hands in sight it would no doubt, have been different. I frequently shoot with cops at the ranges I go to and with one exception they’ve all seemed to be good, stand up guys with tough jobs.

The one exception was a local small town cop who impounded my car when I was 21 for having a brake light out. He was thrown off the force for poking his gun through the window of a speeder while the speeders wife was beside him and his kids were in the back seat. Then a few weeks later he pulled his gun in our local pizza hut and was fired that time. I know for a fact that he was rightfully denied a gun permit after that.

IMHO, you can't talk your way out of a ticket...

...you can only talk your way INTO one...

The real test of attitude comes when Barney Fife pulls you over for "IMPEDING TRAFFIC"  There was only myself, on my Yamaha, and one other car remaining on the cruise that evening.  We slowed to well below the posted 30mph and waived at him while he trained his radar upon us.  The evening police Captain, none too friendly towards Barney, required him to tear up the ticket and let me go when I refused to sign it.   Our small town Barney was later terminated for lack of common sense.   uglystupid2  (true story)

WOW!  and i thought i was a dick with my responces!!

some people just don't ever learn to be humble.

got my first ticket in over 23 years last summer.  i was following behind a guy when he slammed on his breaks, i swerved to the left, just in time to see a cop.  obviously, he saw the cop and slammed on his breaks.  i thought there was something in the road!  ticket was $200.50 for going 13 over.  here in wisconsin, if you get stopped for going 1 over it's still $200.50. (state patrol rates)
