LUV2RIDE...buy safety chrome

Rock hill,SC

« on: March 24, 2010, 10:01:09 AM »

They just stated some/alot of the parkway will be closed due to down trees and pending  rock slides, the state of nc is a little short on money but will hire outside contractors to clean up trees. Closed dates go from May to July depending on what part you want to ride. Better call the park service before you make the trip.

For weather-related closures which can change rapidly this time of year, call the park information line at (828) 298 0398.

Milepost 399.7 (Bad Fork Valley Overlook) to 401.7 (Beaverdam Overlook) - Asheville Area

Due to heavy rains, engineers have determined that a high risk of slides exists in the area, necessitating this emergency closure. The closure will be in place until early July.

For southbound traffic from the Asheville area, take NC Route 191, NC Route 280, and US Route 276 to the Parkway. For northbound traffic near the Mt. Pisgah area, take US Route 276, NC Route 280, and NC Route 191 to the Parkway.

Plenty of good riddin all around the BRP, just hard to find the right place to be. I rode to Asheville last Fri., got on the parkway @ hwy 74 and rode to French Broad overlook.......blocked, so rode north to weaverville exit (about 10 miles)...........blocked.

Just an FYI:
