I'M thinking of put a raked triple tree on the Valk. I like some input on how the ride was, what degree of rake and did you put any fork extension on. Thanks.

a good read about raked triple trees and their possible dangers if done incorrectly. http://jpcycles.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/150/kw/rake%20triple%20tree/r_id/166Remember back in earlier in our essay that for good highway handling, we need specific trail numbers? With a raked tree, it’s easy to get outside that guideline and become an accident waiting to happen. The most common result is a high speed wobble or worse, a tank slapper. For those of you that have not experienced this terrifying effect, take my word for it, that it’s not a pleasant thing to have occur.

Been there on my old Vmax at the drag strip. Pretty scary. Had my Valk up to 115 mph with the raked trees and it was solid and smooth.

Anyone have an idea of what the 4 and 6 degree kits from XF6 put the trail at?

Daryl has his phone number on both of his web sites (XF6 Customs & VTXtreeme). Call it, and he will answer. He's a one man operation, and will gladly answer any questions you may have.

Posted by: Mikey Anyone have an idea of what the 4 and 6 degree kits from XF6 put the trail at?-He offers "6 or 8" deg kits. According to what Daryl told me, on my IS with a 2" extension the trail will be reduced from 6" to 4". If you lower the back end a bit you can increase that number slightly. He said 4.25" is where the wing is and I quote "We all know how well the Wing rides!". He said you can go down to 3.25" and still be relatively stable and responsive. From what I've been reading, the touring bikes have higher trail #'s like our valks/6" to facilitate stability and sport bikes generally have smaller trail numbers to facilitate responsiveness. This site is an excellent explanation on how this all works. Just Googled "Rake and Trail". http://www.seegercycle.com/rake-and-trail.aspx
