Any one have some advise on the rear drive splines? When changing out my rear tire I noticed the splines in the rear hub are not looking healthy. There is some free play when the wheel splines are put in and moved back and forth. Is it easier to change out the parts or try to find a good rear drive. I check out ebay and didn't find one. Any suggestions or ideas are welcome. I'm ready to ride in Minnesota but have a fix to do now.

Not good! Maybe Pinwall Cycle Parts? I found one at a trike shop, but Valk trike conversions are getting very rare. Good luck.

You can get the parts from Honda, but you will pay north of $1K for a new drive hub and splines... Got my 'replacement' drive hub from Pinwall, for 1/4 the price of new, and ordered the splines new, from Honda for a bit over $100.

Blackdog, did you order the hub from pinwall or through one of the sites listed there? And did you get the hub or gears and parts? The splines you ordered from honda, is that just the splines that fit to the rear wheel? Mnrider

There are at least 7 final drives on eBay right now from Pinwall. If you go to eBay and search under "Honda Valkyrie final drive" you should find them there. Pinwall provides pretty good pictures, etc. You should be able to find a reasonably priced good one amongst them.

MN,
I got the entire drive hub, off of a used/crashed bike, from Pinwall. Took my old one off the drive shaft tube, and bolted the new(er) one back on. And yes, the splines I ordered new, are the star shaped ones that go on the rear wheel.

I watched Pinwall for 4 months and scored a rear pumpkin with less than 5,000 miles on it. Was a bit skeptical about the mileage claim, but when it arrived it was pristine. I payed almost $300 with shipping, you can get them for half that if your willing to take a chance with more miles. For what it's worth, I've been riding on badly worn splines for about 8 years, but with the last tire change the teeth were less than 50% there. I'll put the new rear end in this summer.
