Livin' the Valk, er, F6B life in Central Florida.

Silver Springs, Florida

Cleaning up a Valk with totally gunked up carbs & I need some experienced info on what's what inside. Please excuse my ignorance here, I'm a decent wrench but carb work is my weak suit!

Looking at the pic I am assuming the big jet in the middle is the "main jet" and the smaller one to it's right is the "slow jet". Both of them are slotted and removable. I also assume that they would need to be squeaky clean & the passages under them clean & open.
Am I right so far??
If so, what is the little brass tube to the left of the biggest jet? It does not appear to be removable & I cannot get a wire through it.
I want to get this Valk running great again & learn about Valk carbs along the way.
Thanks!

If I am not mistaken and well I have been wrong only once before  uglystupid2 that is a vent to the outside well in to the aircleaner if you look on top of the carb in the plenum you will see some holes and one of those goes to that it just allows equal pressure as the fuel rises and falls in the bowl..

When you unscrew the jets, the long one is the secondary and the short one is the main.  You'll see numbers on them, 35 and 100 respectively.  I prefer to replace these rather than try to clean them.  At $5/each it is much cheaper than having to pull the carbs again if you don't get them squeaky clean..  Feel free to pm if you need any help.

If you are going to replace your 35's and need some 38's which several people have used in their bikes, let me know.  I have a spare set I am not going to use now.
