Installed my new tire on the bike and come to find out it was binding.Ended up taking the wheel back off and final drive was bound up. I had loosened up the final drive nuts a little bit like they say and the wheel seemed to slip in alright but after tightening everything down it was binding.Ive put on the rear tire before with no problems, this time no. anybody have this happen to them? I put that star wheel with the 5 pins back in and tried to turn it ,even with a pry bar but it wouldnt budge.Any ideas of what I need to do?

yeap, me too.  had the same thing happen, don't know what i did.  rode it around the block and it went away.  i'm planning on taking my rear wheel apart one of these rainy days to check it out.  hopefully i didn't ruin anything too expensive.

it also makes an odd sound when i bank either way.  don't know.  my boss always says, don't fix it unless it's broken.......

let me know what you find out, i'll return the favor if i find out first......

charlie, did you loosen up the final drive nuts enough for the final drive to align itslf with the wheel flange?  You must.  Loosening up the nuts a little bit isn't enough.  Torque the axle nut first then the final drive nuts.

Check and make sure you aren't putting the universal joint in a bind. If you try and turn the wheel without the shocks hooked up it will bind and will not turn.

Confession time.  I've have been the only person to change the tires on my Valk. I've never loosened the final drive nuts, never had a problem with alignment, never had any binding. Just saying...,...

It only takes once to get the splines misaligned and then they tear up fast and you will be hunting a new pumkin

Ahh! ok. That makes sense now.I did have the swingarm really low to get the wheel in.And I tried to turn the wheel before I connected the shocks. When I changed the wheel out before I didnt loosen the final drive nuts and it worked out fine, lucky I guess.Tommorrow I'll make sure the bike is down before I try to rotate the tire. Thanks guys.I decided to go to the darkside and I put on the goodyear triple track-looks good on my chrome rims.

i seriously think my problem is a misplaced thrust washer.  not sure if i put it before the spline or after.  why i think that is because i helped out a friend with his rear wheel, and i was extra careful with his, more so then with mine, and after putting on the wheel i realized it was wrong so we took it off and then read the book!!  rode his bike several miles and it sounded fine compaired to mine.

Before learning the procedure and doing it myself I watched two dealers remove my rear wheel and replace tyres without loosening those nuts, hell, on the second one I had to ask them to grease the spline.......so I no longer let anyone else work on my bike.
