I loosened my exhaust to make it easier to put my tire on. I now have a leak. Common sense tells me it will be ok to ride untill next weekend until I have a chance to put gaskets in. I was just wondering if there is any problems running the bike with a leak.

I would think as long as you are not
blowing flames and poping to bad you should be fine.

ok, thanks I ride 100 miles a day to work and back. The leak is jusy making a ticking sound. I just heard someone say those exhaust leaks need to be fixed. I don't know the  importance of it but I was going to fix it next weekend unless it needs to be done sooner.

When ya get it fixed, there is NO need to loosen the pipes to get a rear tire off.

Take a 2X4 and push it up in between the frame and the exhaust in tack.

I don't even do that, I remove the lower shock mounts, then raise the bike till the axle clears the frame and exhaust and take it out.   Remove the wheel, install just the reverse.

You may want to refigure not fixing it soon, why? Exhaust gases are hot and have a nasty tendency to etch the metal that they are blowing on. Now this wont happen right away obviously, but it will eat the gasket away and possibly the metal on the pipes or engine.

You will have to replace the exhaust gaskets in order to get rid of the ticking.  The crush gaskets are pretty much a one time thing.  Once you take things loose, you will never get the pipes back in the same position to seal off again.

An easier way to remove the rear wheel is to remove the shocks, remove the brake caliper, then lift the swing arm using a ratcheting strap over the frame until you can slide the axle out.  (You may need to lift the swing arm to get the bolt out for the caliper support arm.)  Once you get the axle out, removing the tire is a breeze.
