Okay,,,,. Time for some fun. Do any of you know where you can get inserts for the end of 4 inch truck stacks? I've seen quite a few wild add on's. From metal flames to Gatteling Guns. Have no idea where these guys got them.

Now that is cool. But the price!!!!!! Too bad they don't just offer the insert. I have a set of Dragon Packs on the trike and I'm not looking to replace them. Just thought that some kind of insert could dress up the large 4" opening.

If I'm not mistaken, the boys at OCC used one of those when they were doing a build for the National Guard a while back. While the style of their work is not mine, when I visited their shop a while back I was struck by all the details they put on that never makes it to the tube. Saw the NatGuard bike during Laconia Bike Week and once again impressed with all the little details. The Guard had it set up that for a small donation to a local charity they would take a picture of you on it.

I've seen, somewhere?, another similar gun type that was a slip-in as opposed to a extension slip-on and probably less expensive. GOOGLE is your friend. Time isn't always!

Well, to the best of my knowledge they are all gone. Better then 2 years ago I found them on eBay. They were designed for the automotive industry [aftermarket] and came with an 8" stainless extension to be welded to a cars tailpipe. The separated tips fit perfectly to both the inside & outside diameter of 4" pipes. Rytek had gone out of business and the seller on eBay apparently bought up the surplus tips. I had spent about a year looking for something to finish off the open pipes. A pair sold for $20.00. I decided it was worth the $20 to see if they fit. Once I knew they did I posted here to the board and they started selling like hotcakes. Once the seller saw he was going to be able to get rid of them he jacked the price to $40.00/pr. and if I remember, it even climbed higher from there until he sold out. They Are Gone! I approximate there were about 60+ pairs bought up by VRCC members. I have info on "Pilot" tips which are identical, but do not fit very well. The finished outside diameter is too small and the entire tip ends up stepping down about 3/16" from the outside diameter of a 4" pipe. I'll modify this post with Pilot pics one of our European members posted after he fitted the Pilots as soon as I find them and a link. Rytek Fitment = O.D. Flush

Pilot tip link: http://spoilers4less.com/plt-pm-573.html
UPDATE:
Here's 3 "Pilot" Tip pics. As you can see the O.D. of the tips will fit the I.D. of the 4" stacks. This member slid the extension in too. I would seperate the extension from the tip for a flush mount or use the extension to 'trombone' any position you like. You could always secure them in a flush position. That wouldn't look bad at all...
Pilot 1

Pilot 2

Pilot 3

Thanks for the info DF. Like many of the Valkyrie accessories, many cannot be had any more. I did talk to Charlie at Tail Gunner Exhaust yesterday regarding just buying the inserts they offer. Gun Ships/Jets. Still quite expensive at $200.00 each and you have to make your own template to install them. Any way,, if some one else has any other options, please post. I'm not a fabricator and don't want to spend a fortune. lol.

Since you're running a truck stack more so than a motorcycle accessory bit, go to the local to you supped up honda car shop (where they are putting on the lambo doors and supersized wheels) and ask what they have in tips and accessories. Might be able to find something that a mini-trucker has ordered but not picked up yet that they'll make you a deal on. Might find some other idea there that would work.

Regarding the tips that are shown in the link you provided ( Pilot tip link: http://spoilers4less.com/plt-pm-573.html ). Are these the same tips that are in the additional pictures you just posted above? If so, I'll buy the set and install them in the same manner by sliding them in. Seems to be a fast, easy and relatively inexpensive solution.

to the best of my knowledge.
You might want to drill and tap some set screws to hold them in.

might I suggest a little lock tite?
I remember the fish tail inserts falling out of an Indian I was test driving years ago. The factory rep said that never happened, yet they carried quiet a big box of them. I remember thinking, "lock tite is good."
I wonder if the high temp causes problems?
I used lock tite on my xs11 when I made the custom pipes, don't remember it ever causing a problem. But then again, I never took them apart afterwards either, I left them attached to the headers and moved them as a whole forever.

Here are my tips, also from tailgunner. Mike, Those are the exact tips I wanted to install! The reason I'm looking for an alternative is the price and the fact that they don't offer any templates as to where you have to drill the holes in the truck stacks. As I understand it, those tips require two large holes at the bottom of the stack and three smaller holes for the trim ring. As I mentioned I have a trike which means that I'd have to remove the stacks to install these inserts. Not something I really want to get involved with again along with the fear of drilling the holes off center. But they sure do look GREAT!!!!

Looks like Bill is a bit under the weather. He's on medication and following his doctor's orders. Hopefully he'll be back on board soon. I mentioned that we have a few people on this site also interested in his exhaust tips. From what I understand, he already has a waiting list on the Delphi Valkyrie Riders site as well. Hopefully, we''l hear from him soon.

I have ordered a set of these... http://spoilers4less.com/plt-pm-573.htmlNow my question to the exhaust guru's. I have an Interstate with stock pipes intact. I have taken the tips off and installed 18'' truck stacks on in their place. Is there any ideas as to cutting the new inserts after the small part. Or can I leave them alone and change the sound with no harmful effects?

I have ordered a set of these... http://spoilers4less.com/plt-pm-573.htmlNow my question to the exhaust guru's. I have an Interstate with stock pipes intact. I have taken the tips off and installed 18'' truck stacks on in their place. Is there any ideas as to cutting the new inserts after the small part. Or can I leave them alone and change the sound with no harmful effects? Here's the thing with the tips you ordered from spoilersforless.com. They appear to be the ones manufactured by PILOT with the identical 3" opening on the extension towards the "auto" tailpipe & 2 3/4" opening for the billet tips. The long gone "Rytek" tips opening was 3". The 1/4" variance of the O.D. means a nominal 1/8" I.D. oversize (mostlikely) of your 18" stacks.
It won't matter if you install the tips with or without their supplied extensions because their finished O.D. won't flush with your stacks O.D.. So, if you don't want to cut your piggies and if they're in the way either cut (reduce) the length of the Pilot extensions (there by also eliminating the 3" inlet) or remove the tips from their extensions and mount them only. Anyway you look at it, they'll be smaller and you'll have to install set screws to hold them in.
I would cut off the 3" inlet from the tip extensions and use them as sleeves to stabilize and secure the tips. I would think that may work better then just installing the billet tips sans extension while not choking off your exhaust flow. If you install them with the extensions as they are I would imagine it would ever so slightly reduce the db level of what sounds like a stock exhaust, if the piggies aren't in the way. I have no idea what that slight change would do to performance, probably nothing!
You'll have to decide, but what ever you do, would you post up the fitment of those particular tips once you get them in? Pics would be helpfull too if you can.
BE SURE YOUR HAPPY WITH METHOD & PLACEMENT BEFORE YOU DRILL AND TAP THROUGH YOUR STACKS One set screw towards the bottom of your stacks would present hidden, but it may take 2 setscrews per to keep them plumb.
While they're not a perfect fit, careful modifications can make it a project worthwhile.

The gatling guns from tailgunner - I don't think they will fit in 4" stacks. I installed them in 5" stacks a little while back & they worked fine. But I'm pretty sure, not enough room in 4". Here's Andre's Supervalk with my 5" stacks and Tailgunners: Secondly, when I get the current jobs done I'm setting up this option, for these Organ Pipes which are an addition to Silencers. Just did these for Tim Francis of NY this weekend and they look and sound really killer. They are made of 304 Stainless, which I buff to a mirror shine. The exhaust comes out though the pipes, so the outsides should stay shiny a lot longer than Hondaline Triple Tips, which get soot where they shouldn't. Not to mention, stainless can always be brought back to showroom new with buffing - unlike chrome. Not priced yet - I will cost this out and have a price soon. I already know the work involved, having built a set once. This set is with 5 inch stacks. I'm sure it will look great with 4 inch as well.
