Hi All Newbie Here; Purchased My Valkyrie Tour Last Year & Havent Looked Back Since. I need a little help, after spending last weekend reading everything possible on rear car tires I decided to go for the General Altimax 205/60/16 V rated. The tire says 51lbs of air. Can someone who has ridden this tire tell me the pressure they are using in the rear. I have a metzler 880 on the front at 41lbs. Im going on a 200 mile trip this weekend and would like not to have keep adjusting. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

I'm running a Falkien at 48#s, seems to feel better.  I started with 35, 38, 40, 45  the tire is also marked 51psi max.

I have the General Altimax tire that you mentioned and run 35psi in it.  I started at 38psi...too hard.  Dropped to 32psi...too wiggly.  Compromised right in the middle at 35psi...just right.  cooldude

Suggest you start the Altimax at 40 psi when new and adjust(down) in 2lb increments.  Also suggest you increase the Metz front to 44-5 for handling and longevity.

Yep it's importantant to air up the front. I dont let mine go below the recomend. I usually stop a 45 and air back to 45 when it gets to 42 and it lasts twice as long on my bike. The  car tire will last 20,000 miles at any pressure. Lol.. I keep around 35 in my rear.. I really like the firestone firehawk btw

I've run a darkside tire on my bikes  for over 6 yrs now averaging over 25k on several tires I've found that 38psi works best for me.  I've ran as low as 26 and as high as 45. I didn't  find any trouble on the low end as for as wiggly but I did find the center section will wearout prematurely if you run too much air in it.

35 psi solo rear (darkside), 38 two-up.   42 psi front all the time. You'll find your sweet spot, it will just feel right.
I took a good tire guage with me on my maiden voyage. Ran back and forth on the same 5-mile stretch of road, lowering the air pressure each time. I chose this road because it various surfaces, grooves and sharp bends.
