I dont have a good idea about what all is wrong with her, waiting on the list. I need any links to parts places to see if I can swing buying her back on a salvage title.
Or look for a maroon and creme tourer.

If you buy her back, and don't surrender the title, you won't have a salvage title, just your original title. At least that's the way it works here in Illinois.

Same deal recently for my Uncle in PA. Clear Title retained for his wing.

I'd have to check with him, but he told the agent while looking it over he didn't want a salvage title. They told him what they'd give him to repair and he keeps it and he kicked in the difference to the guy doing the work. Check with your agent about possibilities or pm mountainman which is my uncle here. Hope it works out for you. Dave

They other guys insurance wanted to total mine too. The problem was, they made me get an estimate from the Honda Dealer for all the parts needed. The Dealer quoted just under $6,000 to get what was needed. Then the labor 7hrs@$130/hr. So no brainer thats totalled. UNTIL.....I just went to my computer ordered the parts from HDL,J&P,Utimate and a couple more.....bought the same parts that Honda listed (with some sensible changes) and paid only $2,500. I asked (inwriting) for 50% of the Honda estimate because they really do in effect double all the costs and 50% was right at 75% of vehicle value and that was these guys limit. Long story short. They paid me $3,600 to bolt on $2,500 worth of chrome and they were happy to save a bunch of money and my bike didnt have to get totalled

What happened? (Never mind...went back and found the original thread...sorry to hear it) I must have missed the post about your accident. Hope everything's ok. Anyways, I have no clue about the title and totalling your bike. When I hit a deer with my Valk in 2006, they didn't total it...I was about $600 from being totalled. This was kind of a mixed blessing of sorts. If they had totalled it, the value they quoted me would have made me quite satisfied to let them have it, take the money, buy another, and put some cash in my pocket. On the other hand, I really loved my bike, so I really didn't want them to total it. They paid me to fix it and I was able to get the parts for much less than they paid me. I was able to get parts alot cheaper from HDL and I fixed it myself. I also found some prices even lower at www.servicehonda.com that HDL matched/beat. The dealer estimate went strictly MSRP for the parts. HDL and Servicehonda's prices were about 30% less than MSRP. So, the dealer estimate which was over $5000 (what Progressive wrote the check for) ended up costing me only a little over $3000-$3500 when all was said and done. I had enough left over to buy full Progressive suspension including 440HD's and fork springs, and the remaining pieces of the Ultimate seat that I needed(passenger pad, backrest, armrests, and rider backrest) and I still had some cash left over. Also, if you decide to fix it yourself and need/want some help, I'd be willing to ride up your way to give you a hand if you need/want it. You are less than an hour from me.

Last October a deer totaled my bike and the estimate to fix it came to $7500.oo and that would put a salvage stamp on the title. I told the adjuster to make it up to the total price and I would pay the rest, that way their would be no total stamp on the title. It's done now and better than ever, ......so if I ever have to sell the bike after the buyer looks at the bike I can tell him it was down. If a salvage stamp is on the bike no one wants to look or bid, ( or get it on the 'cheep'. ) I feel it was well worth it to dig in my wallet for the difference, and like I said it is better that it was before the accident.

Man, I am hitting fleabay and hdl and others and I'm beating his numbers overall but not by much. His price for the tank is high, but he is at or below what I am seeing OEM when I can find some of his #'S are low.

Pinwall would be where I would look.

They are probably used parts like from Pinwall. Your Insurance Company would be the 1st one to do that................

Was the wreck your fault or someone else's? If it was yours, then get them to give you the 75-80% of value then do the work yourself. If someone else at fault take what they'd give to total and buy it back or reduce everything by 20-25%. If they'll pay $6000 for a total, and sell back for $1500, then get them to give you $4500. for repairs and you do it yourself like Chrisj did.
