I have Ultimate studded seats on both my Interstate (converted to Super Tourer) and my Tourer.  When I open the lid on the saddlebag it rubs against the studs on the passenger seat.  At first I thought it might be an isolated case...but this is the case with 2 bikes of mine.  Anybody else have this problem?

Thanks,
Jim

My interstate bags lift off. Do both of your bikes have hinged lids?

Except for the fact that I do not have studded seats...and my bags are custom home-made bags, yes I have this problem too.  I always figured it was my bags.

My lids rub on the passenger seat when I open the bags... never thought about how awful that would be if you had studs...  ???

The Tourer has hinged lids and the Interstate I removed the trunk from has hinged lids because I changed them out.  I wish now that I had not gotten rid of them...otherwise I would switch back.

I have considered putting a spacer between the saddlebags and the mounting frame to push them out a bit...however I suspect that might misalign the bolts in the bottom of the saddlebag.

You can replace the front 'hinge' (Tour Bags) with the I/S front 'Hook'...  Then your lids can be removed and set aside with no problems.  HDL, as well as any other Honda dealer can get them.

You can space them out if you want. At one time when I had a HitchDoc trailer hitch my saddlebag lids did not touch the passenger seat. Once I took off the hitch it was rubbing again. I don't have studs so I just live with it. I do hate the appearance of the Ultimate passenger seat from the rear when it is unoccupied but the wife rides just enough to cause me to leave it on.

That's a good idea. If you do this you might want to order the Interstate retaining straps as well so you don't lose you lid if you forget to latch it.
