Hoot....gone

Panama City Beach Valk Rally.....gone

Helen GA Valk rally...........gone

Last year....LA Swamp rally.............nope..........this year?

Last year.........OK Robers Cave...................don't think so..........this year?

Cheaha.................this year............last year (as we know it ....no more "rally")........next year.....nope....not in any "rally" format anyway...........

My point is. Get it WHILE YOU CAN. I always see folks posting saying "well, for the 9th year i'm not gonna' make rally XYZ....I'm going to reprimer my jeep instead". That's all well and good...and sometimes, other things come up. And ....the economy is TOUGH (no doubt, making it where MANY folks can not go just for that reason!). And ...priorities change. Etc, etc.

BUT............again..........my point is, never assume these FUN FANTASTIC events........will just go on forever and ever. they may not. In fact, the odds are...many WILL NOT. As participation goes........so goes .............the event.

anyway, i'm just giving you another perspective as food for thought. for what's worth (i know, maybe not worth too much  2funny). But i am speaking from experience. I for one, am going to miss Cheaha next year.

and JUST IN CASE...........I'm making an extra effort to go to IZ THIS year. Cause, the old "i'll catch it next year"....................could...............never come.....................

I'm sure all those saying "I'll catch the Hoot next year, I'll catch PCB next year, and now...I'll catch Cheaha next year....etc."  ....never saw it coming that there would be no next year...........

Live for TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cooldude  There may be no tomorrow......... Cheesy  Cool

Start rant. A biker rally to replace the Honda Hoot, and they show a straight piped, v-twin, with ape hangers, riding the Dragon? WTH IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE !!?!?! To each his own, but give me a break! The pipes and bars are absolutely illegal in this state, not that it's enforced.  Angry  Sad  Shocked  tickedoff  End Rant.

I'll be the first to say "false advertising". Poster says "Ride the famous Tail of the Dragon. " If what we're hearing is true, that aint gonna happen in June, 2010.
OK, enough of the negative. Glad to see Koxville doing this. I miss the Hoot and while I'm sure this won't be much like the Hoot, it will be an excuse to go to K-town and hang out with my buddies.  cooldude

ok...more positive.

Johnson City has had several things since we moved IZ away from there. Last year, they had a HUGE BMW rally (like 10,000 folks!).

this year, the CoC for Johnson City is putting on a rally ...the week of 15 May. It's called Thunder in the Mountains ...i think. Looks like this is a web site for it (I CAN'T SEE THIS STUFF HERE AT WORK...IT'S BLOCKED)..

www.thunderinthemountainsrally.com

so if you're looking for somewhere to go in the middle of May....and like the Johnson City area (I do!)...this may be for you?

LOL, I live here and won't be able to go to this one (work schedule)
Too many "biker rallies" are like the poster for Knoxville..catering to
the poser crowd. They spend more money than real riders anyway...mostly...
trying to look like they actually RIDE!! Still you can sometimes run up on a
good deal for accessories and goodies at some of these events.

I was thinking the same thing. Just got back from a ride on Little River Rd and back to Foothills Parkway, 129 mto 72 to 411 to 129 and home. Saw the Killboy photographer on 129 near the Dam. There's a pretty big insentive to the contractor to wrap things up early, but me thinks Middle of June is pushing it.

Smokin Joe and High Binder have the right Idea to get people off the couch and on the road.

They change the location every year and create new activities and they are one time only.

If you miss it , you miss it,, no more next years for those that ride it.

You eihter show up or you miss it forever.

Genious Mates pure Genious.

The Blue and Gray Ride is the Standard now.

If this works at the Whiskey Run this year in hard times , I believe this should be the way to handle a

Good Valkyrie Ride.

But that  is just the way I see it.

You know how opinions are.

Everybody has one.

By the way all participants excepted but until you have rode the twisties wiht people like Smokin Joe , HighBinder and Lady Draco.

You really ain't rode the twisties like I have.

Right on the edge and beyond sometimes.

It's like the feeling you get when you are about to tip over in a chair and catch yourself

at the last possible minute.

But remember it's not a race.

to live for another riding day is the most important , I keep telling myself that and then go for

broke anyway.

Adrenaline Junkies are all hte same.

It's a hard habit to kick.

BTW, i stand corrected on the dates of the Thunder in the Mountains rally in Johnson City, TN...it is the weekend right after Cheaha...the week of 6-9 May (not the middle of May). Sorry......i got a post card in the mail Saturday advertising the event ...with the dates......
