I bought an 03 standard 7 or 8 months ago and it had been sitting up a good while.  Would not run right at low rpm's.  I tried a couple of cans of Sea Foam and a couple of bottles of Techron but this only helped a little.  Ordered new jets and was waiting to be off work and a time when I was not going to be riding (which is not often).  Had a friend who is an old hot rodder and he told me to try Berrymans B12 before I tore into it.  Put a half can of b12 into about 2 gals. of gas.  Drove it a few miles at low rpm's to make sure it had gotten to the jets and had filled the bowls.  Came home and let it sit for about 5 days.  Fired it up and the sucker purred like a kitten.  I know a lot of guys on this board have experienced the same problem.  Try the b12 before wrenching on it.  Don't go by instructions on can.  Put about a half can with a couple gals. of gas.  Works great and is cheap stuff.  Get it at Wallyworld or any parts store.

There is nothing magic about sitting for five days.  Keep Berryman in the tank while you are riding it for the same or better effect.  One can per full tank, ride 'till tank is empty, fill with gas & one can of Berryman, repeat as necessary.

Just be careful using the Berryman. It will destroy o-rings. Might cure one problem and create another. Especially the o-rings on the carb feeder tubes. JAT

Berryman is a good product. Soaking just the jets in the Berryman would probably unclog the jets. But to me going to the problem of remoing the jets to soak them and they aren't that high I would just buy new jets and install them. I had some stopped up on a 98 I bought. Installed 38's and has been running great.

check out SUDCo...they might be cheaper than Chapparel for the jets.  Mine were about $5/each for mains and secondaries.

Also, Berryman's B-12 is hard on paint.  Be careful not to get any of the full strength stuff on anything painted.  It is a good product.  I have been using it on carburetors since I was a teen and that is a long time...JTL  Grin

Yes it is the tiny hole thru what you describe as vertical that causes the problem. It would help to have a new or guaranteed clean one to compare. Failing that you can perhaps take all six out and compare them with each other. In many cases the ones on one side are clogged whiles the other side isn't. Just a couple of clogged ones out of 6 are enough to cause problems.

A company frequently mentioned here ...Credit card fraud...This large company has had bad reviews ... Buyer beware...
What company are you referring to or is it a secret?

I bought my jets at the local dealer for less than the online price at either Chaparall or Sudco. They were in stock also.

Chapparal also sent me 4 of 6 jets frday....compared em to mine and mine wern't clogged at all.....removed the vacume pistons/air funnels/floats and slow/high jets and sparyed the bodys out good with the berrymans spray carb/choke cleaner///and blew out with rubber tipped air hose..more so on the slow/ and main/ jet circuits....tested the berrymans out on a test oring first since i did not completly break down the carbs...no problem...didn't even phase the o ring so i let er rip..I did not see any really bad gunk come out of the cirrcuits//and i was lookin for it...i was looking for some blobs or someting..nothing// looked clear to me..well that was all i was up for/  didn't want to seperate the carbs....thought i pretty much wasted my time....but it worked cooldude cooldude fired up and snappy as new......didnt mess with the pilot screw adjustment...which was next on my list...was going to take it to a carb guru and go for pilot adjust and sync... but shes good to go.... cooldude thanks guys..
