A woman around the corner from has a 750 Honda Shadow 2005 her husband bought it for her only 1000k on it she wants $3000 for it her husband passed in November and she is keeping the Harley that was his.# 2 son is just about 6foot been riding in the dirt for about 4 years now this could be his first bike for the street what do you think of the bike?Do you think it is to big for a first street bike? mine was a 1965 Triumph 500.

My first bike was a Vstar 650 and I had no prior riding experience. And my biggest problems were remembering what controlled what.
I would think that having a little dirt experience would overcome that issue, and 750 would quickly be no problem.

Is it the Spirit 750 or Aero 750? You can tell by looking at the back fender. If it is short, it is the Spirit 750. Good bike!! It will last you as long as you want it to. Price seems pretty fair...maybe a little on the low side...which means it is a better deal.
As for you being able to ride it for your first bike...most definitely. It is small and very stable. If you haven't taken a safety class, I would suggest it. That way you can practice dropping their bike instead of yours.

Since your son already has experience, I would think he could handle to 750 just fine.

Only down side, with him being 6' is after a year of riding it, he may find it a bit small for his frame...but the good news, you can sell it next year for the same price...
my first street legal bike was a maxim 650...6'4" tall...sold it for $200 more than I bought it for after a year.

I am 6' and own a Shadow VT750DC and it is physically too small for me that is why I have bought a Valk  It is a great bike BUT I find it uncomfortable for anything over about 80 miles. If he is going to use it for local trips and to get used to a bike of his own I would say go for it but if he wants it for longer runs IMHO buy something physically bigger.

750 Aero is one of the best novice bikes ever. The friction zone on the clutch is a mile wide and the throttle isn't sensitive. I've taught nearly 6000 folks in MSF classes, the ones with Aeros always rave about them.

Good choice. A forgiving bike (as much as any can be), with enough power to keep you out of trouble and so you don't "outgrow" it too soon, but very managable.

Good choice. Thats a perfect first bike. I'm working with the wife right now and startung her off on my crf150. Next step will be the class so she can drop theirs and then the jade and cream 1100 ACE.

my first bike was a yamaha 600cc. perfect size at the time. since your sons been riding for four years now, i would say the 750 is fine.

Ditto on the 6ft and 750. I think it will be great for a first street bike but I bet he grows out of it quickly. My son had some short term dirt bike experience on a 175, then we picked up a Shadow 1100 ACE which seemed to be a decent fit. He's probably just under the 6ft mark.

I remember when first bikes were more in the catagory of a Honda S65 or a street 90......and a big bike was a CB 175.
I guess it's perspective thing.

When I got back into riding I rode the AERO's predecessor for bout 3 years a 2003 American Classic Edition or ACE 750. I started my wife on the AERO and actually have it for sale now that she has moved up to a Harley in that we do a bit more long distance riding now. Both are fantastic bikes. Personally I liked the ACE with the twin carbs better than the single carb. But I like to tinker.  Aero single carb and shaft drive cant be beat for a start outer. The brake and shifter are mounted forward a bit so a bigger rider fits pretty well. A jet kit and a few mods you can really boost the HP on these things when you get a bit of experience under the belt. I say go for it! $3000. is a good price. Tom

Well you know the old saying"you snooze you lose" i had sonny boy stop today on his way to work to look at the bike and sit on it see if he liked it and he told me it was perfect so after going on my planned ride today i stopped by the woman's place to make the offer and she told that she had just sold it to a girl that is getting ready to take motorcycle safety course to get her license  oh well.

I stepped up to the Valk after owning a 2005 Aero after I got fed up with basket cases.
IMHO, the Aero is about the perfect commuter bike, and is ok on the highway. It is very forgiving and strong enough to get out of its own way. It will hold 65-70 with 6' 265# + gear on the highway. He will need highway pegs on the engine guard to stretch out a bit on longer trips. With a aftermarket seat, you can run in comfort.
The wife is on the Aero now.
edit, keep your eyes open, there are a lot of them around and 3K-3500 can fetch you one.
