I installed the Stebil horn last night.  Making the mount and bolting it on was easy.  Following the directions for the wiring was challenging but not too difficult (If I can do it, anyone can) But the hardest part comes with a warning.

When yo go to remove the OEM horn, its mounted on a bracket tht is bolted to the frame by a big fat bolt that looks like part of the frame construction, but I think it only holds the radiator mount.  Anyway, the bolt has a nut behind it and it WILL fall and go kerthunk ting ting thud and never come out outo the floor which means its lodged somwhere behind the radiator.  I was lucky, a flashlight and a BBQ sqewer and I retrieved it without removing the radiator.  I was all proud that I had found it so easy, but THEN just try to put that thing back on!  My hand aint fitten back there!

So I look at what I had out, a sqewer, some duct tape and the flashlight.  so I bent the sqewer so there was a 90° shoulder at the end and then taped the nut to the sqewer and used the BBQ sqewer to hold the nut in place until I could get the threads started.  The good news is, it must be a tight fit back there because once I started tightening the bolt the nut held itself in place.....that would have been another trick if it just spun and spun.......  Cheesy

But now, thankfully when you turn on the key and hit the horn, all teh dogs in the neighborhood return fire.   That thing is loud!!!!!

Ya I was concerned it would restrict my access to the pingle from the left side, but it doesnt at all....really fills up that empty space since the fuel valve is gone..........great minds

Gordon and I just installed a high and low tone horn from advance.

Sounds just like a two car horn system and it is pretty loud but not ear blasting loud.

Yours is probably Nuclear level as some of those I ahve heard like yours would scare a 18 wheelre to death.

And I run out of stamps...good reason to take the bike out for a cruise to the post office (bout 10 miles one way)  On the way Im behind a 20 y/0 (or so) girl texting while driving.  Can you see where this is going?  Did you see the look on that lady's face that was playing with the handgun and her husband popped off firecrackers........that was her face whenever I got up beside her and layed on the new Stebil.  I think the phone went to the back seat, but none the less both hands were on the wheel as she looked over to see me nodding "NO" as I let her go by.....didnt want her to end up behind me..........so........bottom line.........ITS LOUD ENOUGH
