Fritz, run the positive and ground wires back to the relay to trigger it. Then run a fused wire (or a wire from a fused source) to the relay and a wire to the new horn. It's not hard actually it's pretty easy. Follow the instructions on Rattlebars page to connect to the relay.
Fritz, you can do this. We're here for you.

Radio Shack has 12 Volt relays. Available in 30 amp or 40 amp. $5-$6. It sounds like JIMC is going to help you.

Don't those cheap auto horns work the same as the cheap motorcycle horn on the Valk? Just connect the same wires that go to the stock horn to the auto horn, unless I misunderstaood and you are putting on an additional horn? ???

if it draws or pulls too much current or amperage, it will blow the fuse. That is the reason for the relay. It's actuated by a low current, but will transfer 30 or 40 amps to the device that it is powering.

Has anyone used dual tone car horns before?... I have an I/S and thought I could mount one in each radiator cover/pod... Use the same relay to power both?
I don't know if I'd want a Stebel...... Don't want to scare the crap outta my co-riders every time I want to get their attention!

I went to the junk yard (auto recyclers now) and got a set of horns off a cadilac. I used one relay and mounted them under the bike in the swing arm area. They have have that great sound, it's funny to see people look around to see who is honking at them. I think between the cost of the horns and the relay I may have $15.00 into the who thing. The reason for the relay is so you don't burn the switch out.

Should a relay be used for any non oem horn? I gotta HD horn that works some of the time. Sounds like not enough ummf for it to work.

Only if the new horn's power draw exceeds the the rating of the stock wiring. ...
So, how how much is the power draw rating of of our Valks horn wiring? I can't imagine a regular horn or two would draw that much more compared to our stock horn, unless you are hooking up several together or maybe hooking up a Nautilus or two. No sense making a whole bunch of extra work for yourself if there is no need, piece of mind if you don't know is worth something too. Just another 3c worth.

I use dual dodge truck horns, very, very loud. $5 parts yard and two boat horns under the swing arm. I use a relay.
