The only difference is the housing.
Ring gear and pinion, bearings. and seals are the same.

Mike: A local service shop asked me to bring my spare drive unit down and compare 1500 wing and Valk drives. The outside of the unit looks very different as the Wing's was never meant for viewing. It's behind bags. The 4 bolts that bolt it up to the swing arm don't line up. Three of them do but the 4th one is different. If you have an emergency, you could cut off the 4th bolt and get by with a Wing drive. All other dimensions are the same. I'm not sure I'd trust it for a permanent installation.
