Fort Walton Beach, Florida I'm a simple man, I like pretty, dark haired woman and breakfast food.

Saw this Kuryakyn AirMaster fairing on their site.  Looks veeeeery nice.  I likey.

 http://www.kuryakyn.com/index.cfm/go/Home.ProductDetail/IMID/1693

However, they don't mention a mounting kit for the Valk.  They do however, have one listed for the VTX 1800.

Anyone have an info on these......will the VTX mounts fit the Valk?

Isn't the VTX 1800 front end the same as the Valk......will other VTX 1800 items fit the Valk if it does indeed have the same front end?

I've seen that fairing advertised. It seems to be a great looking fairing.

I can tell you this: I strongly suspect the VTX 1300 hardware should fit. I used the "Trike Shops" VTX 1300 hardware to mount their "Radio Caddy fairing". I'm not familiar with the VTX 1800 hardware. Call them up. Though may say "no" or 'not sure" if they haven't cross fitted to a Valk, but then they would list it if they had.
You might want to purchase the hardware first to eliminate fitment issues before possible getting stuck with a pricey fairing that won't mount up. BTW I'm a firm believer in making it work with alterations or fabrications in a man cave.

Kury's fairing is going to require relocating the gauges to the bars (it looks like it). Which will most likely mean soldering in 21 electrical extensions (17 for the tach & 3-4 for the speedo) + 6" or so speedo cable extension or replacement.

The Radio Caddy Fairing is less then half the cost. About $550.00 + what ever type of stereo/speakers you decide on. They claim 4" speaker openings, but I installed 5.25" Polk Audio Momo's in there with slight mod to the openings and a high end Sony Head unit with Aux inputs and outputs to my Hondaline CB for pumping GPS audio & XM through the fairing speakers & headset. It all works too well, I'm happy.

You'll have to relocate the front turns also.

Also, most likely a headlight opening issue too with the Kury. I had one on the Radio Caddy unit. It wasn't acceptable to carve a larger opening for me it would have been butchery. I opted to change out the OEM Valk headlight unit for a VTX unit (pricey!) couldn't find an aftermarket headlight unit that would accept the wire harness in the bucket.

My billet stereo cover was a marine weather protection cover that came powder coated and about 2.5" thick. I had to reduce it's depth so it would open well enough because of the gauges, clean it up on a belt sander (table top) wet sand (stripped the powder coat off) and polish. A ton of time!
There are less expensive stereo covers i.e. plastic. But I had a need for a chrome appearance.

Mine was a winter project that ran into July for 100% completion. And, I worked feverishly.

I like the Kury faring, but I suspect with the gauges mounted on the bars (a very likely must) that super duper glove box probably won't open much or fully. It's designed for gauges located in the bikes tank.

Here's my setup below. If I can be of any help, let me know.

All told; I've got about $2,200.00 in making mine work including Rattle can paint from ColorRite which I sprayed myself (that's a lot of work too). You can expect to spend much more then Kury's purchase price also.

Give a shout if any questions have gone unanswered.

It would be much less expensive to add a H.D. Batwing, but then tunes could be an issue.
Another option is a used InterState fairing. I was unsure then because of the electronic gauges, but the Std/Tourer analogs will fit in the I/S openings. Had I only known or been willing to experiment.

Anyway you look at it. These 3 fairing options will cost out at over $2k (on average & options) + paint.

Clear Coated & ready for wet sanding and polishing.

Helped put one on a 1300 vtx nice fairing but would buy different radio the one that comes with it is not bike friendly controls are hard to use, glove box is nice. and good mounting brackets. Still thought it is over priced. must be paying for the engineering.
