GPS Hardwire Problem
«
on:
April 03, 2010, 08:32:54 PM »
I hardwired my Garmin Nuvi 260W using a harness like this one:
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Electronics-photography/GPS/GPS-accessories/auction-275911708.htm
It charges and runs fine for a short while but soon (usually when I'm accelerating or shifting) it quits and starts "reloading maps". If I unplug it the GPS works fine. Any ideas or suggestions as to what the problem could be?

It could be the source you used for power. That source may have a loose connection or an interuption when it gets a certain vibration. Hook it directly to the battery, at least temporarily, to check it out. If your source is going through the starter button, you might have to do the starter button cleaning procedure.

My Garmin was doing the same thing.
Like what was said,it turned out to be a loose connection for the power.

Sorry I've been away so long. DO NOT BUY THIS WIRING HARNESS. IT WILL NOT WORK FOR WHAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO!

Sorry if anyone did buy one after reading my post!

My Magellin kept turning itself off after an hour or so. I put a radio noise supressor in the power circuit and it hasn't happened since.
