Very exciting earthquake today, I have been through a lot of earthquakes here in California but today’s was much different. It was what we call a roller, no sudden shock but just waves.
We were celebrating Easter at my daughter’s house and sitting around in the back yard. Leslie (of Ultimate Seats) thought she was getting nauseous my wife Karen was wondering if she was having a stroke.
In seconds though we realized we were having a quake. Like I said I’ve been through a lot of earthquakes but this one was much different.
It was just like being on a boat in the ocean, we had a very smooth up and down, and sideways movement and it lasted over 30 seconds.
Just about everyone said they felt seasick, the whole thing really messed with our equilibrium and lots of people on the news had the same feelings.
As you probably know the quake was centered just outside of Mexicali just over 100 miles from us. Lots of damage there and we all hope the best for those folks.
Leslie (who lives in Florida) said at least we were all together, she just wishes we were all together in Florida!

I was sitting at the 'puter and felt it too. I'm over 200 miles away in Mesa, outside Phx. The whole valley is talking about it. Some are saying it's a prelude to a bigger one soon.

USGS Web site reported it to be 37 miles SSE of Mexicali and was magnitude 7.2. According the the web site there were also about 30 quakes in the area including near Bombay Beach, (at the Salton Sea), Borrego Springs, Ocotillo, Seeley and multiple other locations in and around that area. I'm in Indian Wells, and encountered much the same as Oz reports..No damage to the house that I can tell, but the pool had high seas...

Very strange to see on the news... Waves in a swimming pool coming over the edge like I just jumped in and did a Cannon Ball!!! Never seen that in my lifetime. Glad you and your families are all safe. Hay Jimmyt

If you're going from scariest to less scary... you got them in the wrong order.
