Author Topic: Torquing the pinion cup nut?  (Read 1301 times)

Is there a trick (short of the special tool used in the manual) for putting the proper torque to the pinion cup? Page 12-14 of the manual shows how the dealership would do it.
I haven't had much luck with a set of channel locks or pipe wrench.

Most use impact wrench, but not sure how they set the torque.

I didn't try that!
no worries about the gears spinning? you didn't have to hold them from turning?

I was worried, but my buddy Dan whose impact wrench we were using wasn't...

Me: what if stuff spins and it won't come off...

Dan: it'll come off.

It came right off, and went right back on, easy as pie. I have my own air compressor and impact wrench
now, I'll probably turn the final drive into a pile of metal shavings when I try it myself  cooldude
