Smokin’jo and I rode back to Bardstown, Ky. to check out a new ride route, after we found out that the Patton Tank Museum was being moved to Ft. Benning, Ga.  We checked out a the world’s longest go cart track on Friday but that was kinda pricey and not what we were looking for….the next day we rode to Mammoth Cave…too many tourist there, we’d be standing in lines for hours waiting to get in….so we moved on to the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, which is where we have decided to make the ride to….the museum is located at the plant where they make the Corvette’s and you can take a tour of the plant or the museum…the fee is 10 dollars per adult and if we can get a group rate with 15 or more people we can get the fee changed to 6 or 7 dollars….so if you intend to make that part of the ride let us know and we’ll apply for the group rate….they also have a senior citizen discount 55 or older.
We’ll leave from the hotel and ride over to Maker’s Mark Distillery take their tour and then take the scenic route down  past Mammoth Cave, passing thru the back country of Ky. and on to the Corvette Plant….depending on when we get out of the Distillery we will eat lunch in Bardstown or on the road to the Plant…along the way we’ll be stopping at Lincoln’s Cabin and possibly his birthplace…there is a lot to see in this area and if you want to plan your own route that will be just fine….we’ll all meet back at the hotel that evening.
The hotel is giving us a whole section to ourselves so we’ll all be in the same area and we were told we can do pretty much what we please without disturbing the other guest…
I’d like to thank Spirited 6 for the ride thru the horse farms around Lexington and it was great meeting you, we’ll see ya in Bardstown in June….
Dave Weaver always good to be around you and it was a pleasure meeting your wife Julie…glad to hear you rode out of the rain and enjoyed your day in Bardstown…I hope those highway pegs worked out for you, we’ll see you and the missus in June…
Crazy horse it was great to ride with you again and thanks for all your input for the ride….we’ll see you in Texas next week…ride safe Mack.
That’s about it for now, everything is set to go…we’re looking forward to this ride-in and we’ll see ya’ll there..

Don is that a 69-70 Vette?

Sure wish I could make the ride this year. Seems like a lot of effort is going in and it will be a real great get together too

Oss, my guess is its a 68. Dad owned a 70 for throughout my teens. Awesome car.

Sounds good Highbinder. I bet the route from the distillary to Vette place is nice. I always go the back way to Mammoth Cave from Jim Beam dist. I was at the Vette mus in 93. Really neat. Your right about the cave. Alot of people, esp in June. You would have to get there by 8a to get a ticket. We always go in June. Its nice park to ride around, although not to big. There is a old church & cemetary in the back. Still in use today and kinda neat. Not a CT friendly road tho.  Undecided I wonder how many Valks fit on the ferry?  Roll Eyes We are ready for June!  cooldude

Don is that a 69-70 Vette?

'69.  The '70 had the chrome egg crate grills, and the '68 a push button for the door (the silver you see in the pic is the key hole, not a button)

My neice did an internship at the plant and I was fortunate to get a VIP tour.  It was very interesting and the museum was good too.

Don, I was wondering, and i don't want to rock the boat but I would prefer to ride. If it's a beautiful day in that part of the country the last place I want to be is inside.  We'll be off the bikes at the Distillaries...no?  JMHO

Sounds like a great ride, I live a couple hours away and have never been to any of it. Always seem to overlook  what's in your backyard. Can't wait, see ya all in June.

Don't mind me, Don.  That's just the cabin fever talking. uglystupid2

I got out and did around six hundred miles this weekend and without my mucklucks.  Felt great to finally shed some of that winter wear.

I'm a team player and would follow you guys wherever you go.  I'm looking forward to Cheaha, the Memorial Day ride, and all rides in between.  It's going to be a great summer! cooldude

Sounds great Don!  Back in my young single days I had owned 4 corvettes, a 65 with a 396 turbo jet, a 71 with a LS-5, then a 75 & 76 with just plain 350's. I had a lot of good times in those cars, but when your young and get married it seems stuff like that just goes away.... Cry
