Guess what was found just south of Jacksonville? Near the St. Augustine outlet, in a new KB homes subdivision. 15 foot Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake. Largest ever caught on record. One bite from a snake this large contains enough venom to kill over 40 full grown men. The head alone is larger than the hand of a normal sized man. A bite from those fangs would equal being penetrated by two 1/4 inch screwdrivers. A snake this size could swallow a 2 year-old child, and has an approximately 5 1/2 foot accurate striking distance. (average size Rattlesnake is about 2 feet) Judging by the size of the snake, it is estimated to weigh over 170 pounds.

The snake is a lot closer to the camera than the man in question.

I've seen several big ones in Northern Florida while hunting. Saw one stretched across a dirt road sunning himself. He wouldn't back down, made me go around. They were babies in comparison to that monster.

I have no use for a snake any bigger than what can be used in the greatest show on earth! No, not Jake...although I grew up watching real wrestlers like Jake and his Snake...the greatest show: It would take a lot of rock-n-roll for a snake this big:

.....sweet pair of cowboy boots hangn right there.. *Sigh* There aren't many restrictions my spousal unit puts on me. Very few in fact. But one absolute she's laid down is if I were to ever even OWN, much less wear in her presence a pair of snake skin boots, I better have a good lawyer lined up afterward. She has a massive revulsion to them. And of course, I'd never really even wanted a pair until she told me that, now I really really REALLY want a pair, just because I can't have 'em...

. .....yeah well....Ive always liked to consider myself...unconventional by design....when I was 16 I was walking out the door one day to go hang with the boys...got down to the end of the driveway and what did I spy in the trash but an almost brandnew pair of cowboy boots...the real pointy kind...seems my old man bought em and for what ever reason didnt take to them, so he tossed em in the trash...well...I paused...picked one up...looked it over real good....slipped it on....perfect fit...tried on the other one and walked up and down the drive way a time or two.....I liked em...I liked em ALOT....tossed my other boots...(squared toed black ones with the big ol rings on the side and straps across the front and back...everybody was wearin e back then)....I tossed em back in the hosue and mosyed on up to the Acme where all my hoodlum friends hung out....when I got there....they all stood back and gaped....Dave...what the HELL are you wearin ? ....now ya gotta remember...this was the early 70,s.......in new jersey....and if you wanted to...fit in...with the crowd I hung with...you wore a faded Wrangler denim jacket....bell bottom jeans....had at least shoulder length long hair....carried a Buck Knife on your belt...and smoked Marlboros....among other things.. ...I just laughed and proudly exclaimed....man....these are cowboy boots ! ...well...I got my balls busted royally....cockroach killers they called em...said ya could kill a cockroach in a corner with them pointy toes....hell...I didnt care...I did what I wanted...when I wanted....not soon after that...band calling themselves the Eagles appeared on the scene...and Desperado Album was all the rage...and before ya knew it...EVERYBODY was wearing...fancy cowboy boots...Tony Lama,s were the symbol of coolness ...and not only were folks wearing cowboys...they were also sportin pearl snap western shirts...still had all of mine even though they didnt fit anymore until a few months ago when Chili,s son moved out of the house...his mom bought him a pearl snap for Christmas and he took a liking to it...so I got mine out of the back of the closet and told him how Id be..real proud...if he carried on that tradition and wore em....he took him with him... ...so Ive worn cowboy boots since I was 16...had alot of pairs since those early years...had a nice lizard skin pair back in the 80,s...but then one day I was in New Hope...that lil tourist town I was talkin bout in another post and I happened to wander in this tiny leather store...now most of the shops in that town cater to big money yuppies...and this place was no exception...and they had this small corner with a nice little variety of cowboy boots...but oh were they fine..thats when I spotted this pair of Lucchese Alligator Skin cowboys....oh man...were they fine....they had the ridge of the alligator back running up the toe...all tan like...I just had to try em on...and they fit like a glove...that stiff arch support lifting the middle of your foot up...I walked around on the rug with some serious wood going on....then I looked at the price tag....500.00 Bucks....oops...Im just apoor biker kinda guy...no way could I afford that kinda cask for...some boots...so I just sighed and slipped back on my 70 dollar H&H Ridng boots and wandered back out on the street...but I pined long and hard for those boots...why..every time I found myself in New Hope after that day...Id find myself going in that lil expensive leather store and...staring at em...picking em up...running my fingers over that roudgh ridge running up the toe...then one day I rode there with my friend Johnny and his family...his pop was a great guy....born and raised ion a farm in Colorado...and he did love his exotic skin cowboy boots...so naturally I had to tell him about these...dream boots of mine...so when we got there I tokk him in and showed him these boots...and he tried em on...and he walked around the same carpet I did...and he looked at em in the mirror with that same lil *gleam* in his eye...and he turned to the sale girl and he said...I,ll take em ! .....welllllllllll...hell...I couldnt believe it...I felt like somebody had just punched me in the stomach....HARD.. ...what was I gonna do ?...the man just bought...MY BOOTS !!. ...oh man...I did feel bad...so I did what any desperate...exotic kin cowboy boot loving guy would do...I demanded that she find of pair of these ...ostrich skin cowboys in my size ! ...Hell....I still couldnt afford them 500 dollar dream boots...but I just couldnt walk out of that store...empty handed !...so I did the next best thing...I bought the Lucchese Ostrich Skin Cowboys....for 300 bucks...7 years later I still gottem...in pristine condition...keep em in the origional box with the cardboard supports that came with em...but I till dream of them ..Tan Alligator Lucchese Cowboys with the ridge runnin up the toe all rough like.....Hell...their probably up around a grand by now...but one day....one day.. . . .....sweet pair of cowboy boots hangn right there.. *Sigh* There aren't many restrictions my spousal unit puts on me. Very few in fact. But one absolute she's laid down is if I were to ever even OWN, much less wear in her presence a pair of snake skin boots, I better have a good lawyer lined up afterward.
