Anybody out there help me out here? I am putting the final drive back in my beast and there is a problem sliding the drive shaft in far enough to get some threads on the studs. She's almost ready for a ride. mnrider

Lift the swing-arm ABOVE horizontal.. This is the most important part. ABOVE horzontal.

Stick the shaft in the pumpkin...slide the unit in till you meet the studs...and then just wiggle the crap out of it.

It'll go right in...and if it slides home the shaft IS in the ujoint.

put the drive shaft into the pumpkin first

raise the swing arm to its level position like when the shocks are on

sit right behind the opening.......look up there and see the u-joint

take aim and guide it straight

If you dont hit it perfect wiggle it a tad and even move the swing arm up and down ...IT WILL GO

Don't forget to put the tranny in first gear, this will allow you to turn the flange while you wiggle it.

I had a similar problem getting this all lined up last week.

What worked for me was to disconnect both shocks and I let the swing arm droop to just below horizontal (helped to have an assistant to hold it just right although an axle stand or trolley jack would do if you were solo) and it fell straight in. What this allows is the UJ to sit in the centre of the drive tube so that the drive shaft can just slide in rather than rest on the bottom of the tube which is what it wants to do.

Y'all will have to come to Inzane to the rear end tech session so I can show you the "under 10 seconds" putting her back in.
