Why would anyone shave a cow like that?

Man, I have been bowed up like a coon dog passing a pine cone since I got here almost two weeks ago.  I got my first report into management today and I think I might just take tomorrow off...Yep, I think I will.

Well, you know me...if I can make the best out of the armpit of Africa, I reckon I can dig on the Netherlands while I am here...  2funny

Spent Easter here in Emmen and man, did I ever find a place to eat!  I went to this place the day before Easter and the meal was so good that I went back the next day and had the exact same thing!  Man, it was a beef tenderloin with a honey, brandy and cherry sauce on it!  It was some of the best stuff I ever ate.  Like I said, I went back on Easter Sunday and had the same thing.  The dish was called Gioia Valentina.  The menu said:

Ossenhaas met een saus van honing en Amarenakersen met Aardappeltjes uit de oven en Rauwkostsalade

which translates to:

Beef tenderloin with a sauce of honey and Amarenakersen with roast potatoes and salad.  Man, it was AWESOME!

Then off for a Koffie (coffee).

Oh, by the way - still on the wagon.  Haven't had a drink since Jan 18th.  Nothing special about that date, just the last drink I had.

And for some desert, some Softijs out on the balcony of my room.

And went for some of the real stuff this evening after I got back from work.  And zwarte kersen (Black Cherry) to boot!

Well, one last food shot from Wednesday.  They had a little BBQ over at the staff house, but I knew it was going to last too long into the night and I got sidetracked doing some work in the room.  Anyway, I went back to the same place, the Su Sardu, and had Peposo, which was listed as Peperige stoofschotel van rundvlees met Risotto con verdure Rijstgerecht met groenten
en Rauwkostsalade.  Translates to: Peppery stew of beef with risotto con verdure rice dish with vegetables and raw vegetable salad.  Awesome.  First time, that I know of, that I had real risotto and it was SOME GOOD!

Ok, ok....Now to make it BIKE related.....I was walking along and saw this neat old BSA Motorcycle in this shop window that was selling clothes...Now, it's BIKE related.

So, anyway, to get back to my original message.  The girl at the office told me about this town about 35 minutes from here.  Emmen is a new town (very few old houses).  Well this town is called Oud Aalden (Old Aalden) and is suppose to have these farm houses from the 1600's.  There is a place that is famous for their pancakes.  Supposedly, you sit in the sunken area where the cows use to stay when they kept the cows in the house.  I think I am going to check it out tomorrow.  In fact, I know I am going to try and find it (after doing some laundry)...

Sure sounds like a neat place to me!

I think I am gonna go groove on some PANNENKOEKEN - maybe two plates!  The place I am going to go looking for is 't Hoes van Hol-An....OH YEAH BABY!!!!

Safe winds everyone!!!!!!!

I sure would hate for them to rent me that little car for nothing.....

Oh, PS..they sure got some really awesome crotch rockets over here and neat riding gear.  Mopeds can even ride on the bike path thingies...

The beef tenderloin in the honey cherry brandy sauce looks really good.
Glad to hear you're gettin a break from Africa.
Wish I was goin' with ya for pancakes tomorrow. That is if they did a good job of cleaning up after the cows.   Cheesy
