A friend of mine at work just brought me an application to ride in a fun run for charity down around Lake Wylie. It is supposed to be a well established well organized event. Orderly. Safe. Fun. Raises money for a good cause. He suggested that I come and bring some friends.
So naturally, I thought I'd share it with ya'll.
He provided a letter with the details and a registration form.
Here are exerpts from the letter. It appears you can register on line if interested.
"On April 18, 2009, the honor Guard Motorcycle Ministry is sponsoring the third annual benefit motorcycle ride for the Children's Attention Home. The ride is schedule for April 18, 2009 at 10:00am. This is in conjunction with the National Child Abuse Awareness Month Campsign. All profits will be donated to the Children's Attention Home.
The ride will begin and end at Lake Wylie Christian Assembly on Charlotte Hwy in Clover, SC. Each paying rider (and passenger) will recieve prize tickets which will be placed in the door prize drawing box. At the end of the ride everyone will recieve lunch and we will start the door prize give aways. (Last Year's grand prize, donated by Verizon Wireless, was 2 box seat tickets, pit passes, etc. to the Coca Cola 600 at lowe's motor speedway).
The Honor Guard Motorcycle Ministry is asking for your support with this benefit motorcycle ride in any way that you can. This year is especially critical in the current economy. If you would like to register for the ride or participate in any way, please visit
www.HonorGuardMM.org and register on our site, or contact Allan Melton at
Camelton@comprium.net.
We thank you for your suppor and ask that you pray for the children at the Attention Home and all children acorss our wonderful nation."
I have also posted this on the NC chapter board. But I wanted to make sure the upstate SC and other nearby riders knew about it.
The Children's Attention Home is a private non-profit organization that is an emergency shelter for up to 24 children and a long term low management grou home for up to 12 children. So this is a charity that supports helping and protecting local area children. It sounds right up the VRCC alley.
Thought I would pass it along.
My wife is going to check the calender and see if we can pencil this one in. When it gets closer to time I'll be sure to let ya'll know when where we'll be heading down in case someone wants to meet up and ride around together for a little while that day before or after.
Beautiful area and a good cause.
