anyone have some of the freeze plugs sitting around and would mind checking them with a mic for me? If you can get me some dimensions in return i'll turn up a few for you.
I'd like to do the desmog in the near future and want to make sure of the machine shop while I can.

actuall when I did my desmog, I tapped the small port at the bottom of the holes where the injection pipes fit in and installed 1/8" socket head pipe plugs. works great and if you "have" to go back stock for "state" reasons the original system can be installed over the top of the plug if you so chose.

After doing some reading I like the idea of leaving the pipes there and just putting some vacuum plugs on them. 3/8" does just fine. Package of 3 ran me 1.99 per. Why bother cutting, hacking, tapping!

OK, I have a powerpoint (also PDF) with dimensions of a plug I had a buddy of mine turn up for me. It's virtually identical to the original 'plug', sans the plumbing (I used calipers on the original to get the all dimensions). I'd attach it here, but I can't seem to figure out how to do so. Send me your e-mail addy & I'll forward it off to you. OK, Maybe this will work?

I use 9/16" (.5625" dia.)plugs, but spin them down to .556" diameter before installing them. The holes are about .551" diameter. I want some press fit, but think that .011" may be too much.

You could easily crack the cylinder head casting around the hole with to much press fit. When I machined mine I only used about .001 press and a bit of loctite. They were full length about 3/4 if I remember correctly. Redline
