I live in Denham Springs and I am looking for someone that can sync my carbs for a reasonable cost. I called Friendly Honda in Baton Rouge yesterday and they wanted 4 hours of shop time because they said the last valk gave them "problems" with the carb sync. Anybody local that can help me out?

I'm in Livingston, La.  Been to Warlocks place a few times. Have to locate the map into Mississippi  Undecided .  Need to get back up there to either replace all the vacuum hoses or desmog( maybe just visit).  We can have a day up there when he comes home?   Never syncronized anything on my bike yet.  Might not hurt.

They clearly don't know what they're doing then.  A compentent shop should be able to do a carb sync on a Valk Standard or Tourer in about 1/2 hour.  With a six gauge setup, it's a 10 minute job.  Interstates would take a little longer, because of working around the pods, but never four hours.

I'd think twice before taking my bike there for any repair.

Not a hard job and you usually can get some good conversations going around the old work bench.
Hey Fuzzy, I offered to do yours while we were in Colorado in 06, but you were SKEERED.  I think the words you used were something like "I'm afraid if we do it at this elevation, what will it be like when I get back home to LA." Smiley Smiley  I hope you and Cathy are doing well.

I am mechanically an idiot but built a manometer that someone posted plans on and sync'd my carbs.

Real easy to do.

It's kinda easy Mark.  Head east, that's into the rising sun.  You'll have to cross a river to get here, either the Mississippi or the Pearl.  Don't forget to bring your passport.   Wink

Warlock, that is an offer I can't refuse. I will get with you on the details in the next week or so. This community is great.
FYI, I'm not even sure my carbs need syncing. 23k miles and I don't think they have ever been done.

Dusty (Slammer) did my carbs along with setting the pilots... bike's been running GREAT since then!!

He's here in Lafayette, but worth the drive if you've never synced the carbs and set your pilots.

Wow....went from being overcharged for a carb sync to having multiple offers to help in one day. How great is this board?! I have been a VRCC member for a couple of years but rarely post. I appreciate the responses, especially since none of you even know me.  Both Lafayette and Magnolia are about the same distance from Denham Springs so both are convienent. Gonna have to see whose schedule I will disrupt the least. I work a 9-5 work week so weekends are best unless I take a vacation day.

Bought mine from a guy named Gary in Hammond. It is a 1997 standard, purple and white. He had several Valks at his place when I picked mine up. I believe one was a green and silver interstate.
