Ha.  My question in the other thread was referencing this one.

I am talking to the guy.  He gave me his telephone number.

Have not actually talked to him yet though.

I saw this one too. If I wasn't already committed to buying a 99 next week I would have been all over it. The price is low but it's within the low range of the bikes I have been checking across the country the last couple months. Hard to tell until so
Rome checks it out but it appears on the up and up.

$5000 for a 12 year old bike with 77,000 miles is a scam???  Get real! You guys think your bikes are worth more than they really are.  Granted, the miles are not excessive for a Valk, but it is what it is.  The trailer makes it a reasonable deal.  Economy's down, lots of people out of work...now is a good time to buy a bike, not sell.

I don't know, maybe it's a different world west of the Rockies.

I completely agree that our bikes are not worth what we think they are.  I was going to sell mine until reality slapped me upside the head and I realized I could not get what I wanted for it.

However, it appears to be a scam because several people on this board would jump at the chance to probably pay an additional $1K - $2K just for the bike alone - not to mention the trailer.  And at that price, it would still be a decent deal.

Check e-bay motors, cycletrader, the classifieds on this board, and craigslist to see what these bikes are going for.  It is one heck of a lot more than $5K.

Like others have said... it smelled like a scam for the bike and trailer.  Yea, it has lots of miles but it is an Interstate and that trailer is a bonus as well.   I did respond to his ad, but have not heard a reply from him.  He probably has too many fish on the hook now......

I have called him and left a voicemail.

My server is down at the office... so I can't tell what's there.

We'll see.

Apparently, WD40, you've not been shopping lately.  There are certainly good deals to be had, but $5000 for a Valkyrie Interstate is very much the exception.

Adding the trailer makes it "reasonable" ?   uglystupid2

I'm not certain whether your part of Nevada is west or east of the Rockies, but it appears you are most assuredly living in a different world than are the rest of us.

Great deal, if it's real. Here's my old bike, hit a deer, been rolled, and has 107K on it. Would you pay this or $5k? BTW, I got around 7-8K out of insurance, so just sayin...

Granted, it's been 1-1/2 years since the crash and the market has changed, but not that much. He atarted out over 5K for this one.

To all you doubters.....
I paid $6000 about 2 yrs ago ( when the economy was not so bad) for my 2001 Interstate.  It had 6009 miles on it, excellent condition, stock (no extras).  The seller was asking $6500.  So yeah, I think $5,000 for a bike with 77.000 miles does NOT smell like a scam.  Unless I was the next door neighbor to the seller, and knew how it was ridden and cared for, i would not pay much more.
Here's an I/S that just sold, half the miles, $6000 asking price...
http://humboldt.craigslist.org/mcy/1670933709.html
Tourer in Phoenix with 42K asking $5300.....http://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/mcy/1696552693.html, one of several in the area at/under $5500, granted not Interstates.
Yes, there's a LOT more out there at much higher prices, but on the other hand, for a patient person who watches ads, the OP listing is not outrageous.  Also, I wonder what all those high dollar asking price bikes actually sell for.

I never got a reply from the seller. I was going to drive there and look at it.

I'm sure he was swamped with emails. Oh well. There always will be more
