Well folks it happened to me today.  A few years ago, 2 or so, I put Ride On in my Interstate wheels, and thought all was bliss untill today.  When I put it in, I noticed an improvement in the smoothness, and was very happy.  Today my front tire was flat, and I found a slow leak in two places around the bead.  Thought no problem, probably just a little corrosion along the inside of the bead.  When I broke it down, the tire was full of corrosion and peeling chrome.  The rim had three large seperate areas that were completely eaten up.  The wheel is not salvageable.  Lucky I had a spare wheel with one of the old original Dunnies on it that was still in good shape.  Mounted it and could tell immediately an improvement in the handling.  Guess the bad one had been gradually getting worse over a long period of time, and I just didnt realize it.  I still have enough of the Ride On to do about 4 tires, but will dump it.  Dont know if the Chromies had anything to do with the problem, but I wont ever use it again in anything.   Now I know some of you will say my tires dont last that long, so I am good.  Well I wouldnt bet on it.

The problem is that to chrome aluminum you have to first put down a layer of copper for the chrome to stick to.  Once the chrome has been breached the copper reacts with the moisture and goes to hell.  It eats deep into the aluminum and all the chrome blisters and falls off.  We have a huge problem with automotive wheels doing that.  Here where the weather changes, chrome plated alloy wheels only last about 5 years.  If someone has put a liquid flat sealer in them I have seen them go bad in just a few months.

So what are those that use Ride On with standard "cast aluminum wheels" and not chromed experiencing?   Is this bad stuff all around or just in the case of the chrome wheels?
