A big thumbs up on the ultra.  cooldude My original SS went out last week, after 4 years. Didn't really like it anyway, lighting sucked. So this time I bought the Ultras. Coming home from bike night, which I should have brought my camera  Wink , I get to try out the new bulbs. Wow!  Shocked The package shows better all around lighting then the original SS. It was a heck of alot differant. The lows seemed like brights. Better range of light. Much more clear also. $26. Brownish red package.

Buy a spare Fudgie. You are going to need it. They produce great light. The down side to that is their life span.

I guess it depends on how much use it gets, not so much the time frame. I love the bulb myself. Very noticable difference. I've never had more than a year out of one. I ride often and long. I don't mind spending extra on them cooldude

I've got one waiting to replace the normal Siverstar in my headlight.  I just wish they would make an SS Ultra H-3 for my aux lights.

I have had Silverstar in my VTX for 4 years or better.  I do not run High Beam during daylight tho, since I have driving lights that go off with when High Beam is on.  A buddy of mine had a Silverstar on his VTX as well, but got a deal on Ultras.....  Coming back from a Bike Night, we pulled up to the back of a building to see how much brighter his Ultras could be over my regular 3 year old Silverstar.... they were not brighter, mine was.   Shocked  Shocked    Go figure......

I have 2 Silverstars in my Interstate and love the light.... hardly ever use high beam even at night.
