I started putting my pants legs in my socks when I was mountain bike riding (I don't wear those
spandex britches you see  Shocked ) to keep from getting my cuff caught in the chain.

It works pretty good on a Valkyrie too, when it is cold or wet out...

Never put my pants legs in my socks but definitely in the boots when it's cold. Much warmer than over the boots.
Anyway, way to go Mike. Do what makes you happy. That's how it should be.  cooldude

It works on the mountain bike, and it keeps your cuff from getting caught in the Valkyrie chain, too.  2funny

Pretty cool pictures of all of us there... I saved the ones with me and Paul, I guess it would be stealing
to post them...

I can't get them to stay in just the boots, but they stay in my socks all day long...

Another use for duct tape, keeps the pants closed and tight to the leg as well as being really waterproof.

Many years ago I and others were riding in central Ky. looking for some off road trails to ride. We were in Berea, Ky. at the time. WE met a fellow riding a Honda 90 and we flagged him down to ask if he knew of some good off road trails. He said "sure do" follow me. We did and came upon a mountain ridge he said was 12 miles long and had a great trail across the top. Just before he went into a path he stopped and tucked his pants inside his socks. I asked him why he did this and he said, "SNAKES", we might see some. Deep into this path / trail, which was like a gully wash, I looked up on the side and saw more SNAKES than I have ever seen outside of a ZOO. We all stopped and did the pants thing.  Undecided All in all this was a great off road ride. We saw a grave yard that dated back the 1800 hundreds. You never know what you will see in the hills of Ky.  Roll Eyes

uh... how does having your pants tucked into your socks protect you from snakes?

Is it the same theory as tinfoil hats?

Mike, I have seen these comments about pants in sox before, and now the pic.

I have been wearing military boot blousers with my jeans and 8" boots for years for the same reason; keeping the wind and cold out of my pants legs...... especially since I began wearing the relaxed fit (old man's) jeans, which will really balloon up on the Hwy pegs.  Course in the hot weather, I take them off and enjoy the air conditioning.  Boot blousers work better and faster than tucking into your sox.... and don't stretch out your sox.  LOL  You just clip them around your sox/leg just above the top of the boots, and roll your pantlegs underneath.  Holds the pants closed but does not cut circulation.

They can be found at military surplus stores, and I can pick these up for about a dollar a pair at the Ft Belvoir military clothing store.  If you shoot me a message with an address, I'll send you some in an envelope next time I am out to the Base.

Done, thanks! I used to have a similar thing from the bike store that used velcro, when the velcro wore out, I started sock stuffing...

One thing about socks - they're always there  cooldude

Don't know if you recall the movie "Teahouse of the August Moon" with Brando playing a lazy Japanese laborer?  Pretty funny, but the part that always made me laugh was the numbnuts col who was always after him to pull his droopy sox up.  Then when he told him to hurry up with his work, Brando says "but boss, if I go any faster, sox fall down."

Course these blousers also have a use life; at some point the elastic loses its stuff.

Mr. Smokin',

What's up with the 2 S2000's in the background?  Any of them your's?  I really like those cars and have lusted after them for years - but have yet to own or even drive one.

Was Mr. Pants-In-Socks riding that little red dirt bike in the picture?  If so, that would be an even funnier sight.
