Author Topic: How much do you get in a Year.  (Read 2610 times)

I am averaging about 20,000 miles a year after I added all the miles up on 9 Different Bikes in the the last 5'1/2 Years.
Alot of you get more I know.

These are quality miles,

I never rdie to work, it's just too dang close and as soon as I get my Helmet Buckled I want to ride at

least a hundred or two hundred miles.

Not that there is anything wrong about riding to work , just not for me.

SO how many do you get a year is my question?

Big Al

Oh and by the way to celbrate DDT's Huge Milestone.

He wins a Case of Coor's light from yours truly.

Shouldn't we get him a plack or something, my goodness he deserves it.

My average per year on the Valk has been 12,000 and like you Al I don't or can't ride to work......I think it's better that way. This year I have a total of 317 miles.  Angry Gonna be hard to get to the 12.000 but I'm not giving up on it either.  cooldude

Riding didn't start good till June. This year it started in late March. Hoping for another 15k. Your right ho, quality over quanity. couldnt ask for a better riding partner.

Quite a bit for my age, the missus gets frisky once or twice a week.  Oh, were you talking about ridin miles? 63k in the 7 years I've owned the Valkyrie, more than I used to pre-Valkyrie.    Grin hoser

Since 2001, when I met my Valkyrie Tourer, I've averaged about 12.5k a year. I'd sure ride a lot more if I'd had the time when I had the $$ and if I had the $$ when I had the time!! Grin Grin

Oh yeah! Hey Bruce!!
You still puttin miles on that rickety old scooter of yours? If so, whatcha got?

I have been chasing DDT for total miles since Prescott, AZ Rally several years ago, what milestone did he hit, 400,000?   That was when I met Bruce for the 1st time.

Bought MGM Sept 97, and to date, 242,000 + change.     Last year due to health reasons, MGM got 42 miles.      Son did a 1/3 of them.     My riding was limited to around a square mile.    4 miles at a time.......

Nov 98 when MGM was parked for the winter he had 41,586 for mileage.   That was my largest mileage year.   I'd had bypass surgery and took off for 4 months of riding.   Covered all 48 states and Alaska, getting pictures of their state capitol.       2000 I got Hawaii on a rented Harley.

I get rid of this O2, I'll be back on MGM and the Chevy Trike............

I ride over 100 miles a day to and from work. I just started this job about 2 months ago. Since I've been laid off twice in this economy. We will see but I am figuring on about 25k per year from the problem free 47k+ I have now. I've always complained about not having enough time to ride.  Now i'm getting plenty of it.

Absolutely, positively no braggin' rights here.

When I sold my '97 Valkyrie to Li'l D, it only had 38,000 miles on it.  Of course, all my preceding bikes, the 1935 Harley, the 1946 Matchless, and all the others, had miles on them.

No excuses, no reason, no sweat.  I put in my time riding.

I will mention quality rides, that's what they all were.  I'm happy with my experiences.  That's what counts.

Oh yeah, I also have a lot of respect for those that put on the miles.  I would hope that they have respect for those of us that put on less.

Since the Valk and I got together some six years ago I've averaged right at 27 per year (26.Cool  That doesn't count miles I've ridden on other people's bikes (including Motomama's).  I've been know to ride a mile or two on bikes that are not mine.

I rode to work.  I ride on vacation.   I ride to church.  I ride to the grocery store.  Sometimes I ride just because I can.

I ride mostly alone and that's okay.  There are really very few riders with whom I truly enjoy sharing the wind.

I like to ride to work. its 104 miles round trip if i go the direct route. I can stretch it out to around 130 one way( that 260 round trip and still make decent time. I love riding back and forth to work unless i gotta carry my computer. then, it is a bit much on the bike but, i have done it. many times. need bigger bags i think. I ve turned just over 5k this year so far. I hoping to keep the pace up. went just under 300 miles last aturday just because. but i did that on the phat girl. back and hip was killin me but i enjoyed every minute of it.Cheesy hoping for 15k this year...

Work is only 1 1/2 miles away so it's not worth getting ATGATT for such a short distance plus there's nowhere to put ATG once I get to work.

The weather last year really cut my average down.

Average since April of 2002 is about 18,000 a year. Best year was 2006 with about 30,000.

On my first Valk with my better paying job I got 12-14,000 per. And that was
working 70 +/- hrs a week. This Valk, 2/3 the pay, I'm only getting around
8,000.

Got back into riding in May 2006 when I bought my Valk.
43,000 on the Valk since then & 9,000 miles on the Rocket 3 while I had it splitting miles with the Valk. So I guess that is 52,000 in 4 years for an average of about 13,000 a year. I did ride Kim's SS750 back & forth to work for a year or two putting about 80 miles a week or so. Only have a 6 mile commute to work. Not counting work miles! Grin
Wish I had more time to ride!!

since our jobs are not condusive to riding to and from work , we usually ride most weekends. our average mileage per year is around 12-15k. also a short riding season in the western part of ny doesn't help with riding either. look forward to seeing everyone at inzane this year, meeting old friends and making some new ones. stay safe and see you in the wind. cooldude

Well, living in the North Country does limit my riding time but I seem to manage 8k - 9k miles a year and not much of that is riding to work. I try to make it out to the Rockies once a year. So, far this year I'm closing in on 1500 miles.  Doesn't seem like much compared to you southern folk.

I've kept an Excel spreadsheet since I "started back" riding in 2003.

Since then my daily average is 67.77 miles.

24.738.64 per year average overall years and the best year was 2006. I think I was virtually tied with Mr. Willow at right around 41,500 total for that year.

I ride to work. I ride to play. I ride to relax. I ride to get stressed (speed and traffic!) And I ride in my sleep (but those miles never get counted).

Mr. Willow and I plan to ride around the world together someday. Hopefully that dream will come true somehow... If our wives play their hearts right we may even let them tag along.

Looks like 14,000 a year average. I ride to work most days during the ice-less months but its only 16 miles each way.

30K a year for the last 4 years......all play since I'm retired.  Will add about 8-10K in just July of this year in a trip up north. I've been known to go for a cup of coffee and rack up 200 miles........matter of fact, this happens often.....chuckle.

Well it's about 22K for me since 2001.  That's 120K on the Valk and 84 K on the Goldwing.  With one winter in Iowa where I didn't get to ride much (2004 - 2005) and two winters in Wa (2007 and 2008) so that averages out to 22K.  Since being laid off last year in Novemeber till April 2010 I logged 18,500 miles.

Ain't afraid of no curves like you said.

At first I wasn't quite sure what you were referring to "How much do you get in a year".  I guess you're talking about riding.

I put on around 20 K per year on the two bikes and it would be more but the rest of the miles about 15K more are spread out among two Corvettes and a 55 Chevy none of which are boring rides.  The bikes provide the most personal satisfaction and a great escape from work pressures.  About half those miles are two up with my lady but only about 1000 are with others as we prefer to ride alone.

I've owned my Valk, for 10 of it's 13 years.  Got it with just over 2K on the clock, and I'm now at 70K...  Not too bad of an average considering I live in Wisconsin (7 - 8 month riding season), work 50 - 60 hours a week, have two boys (now 17 & 21, and I spent many hours as LL coach and Football coach, during their younger years) and a house to maintain...

Other than the occasional ride to work, and desparatly needed 'Mental Floss' rides in the evenings, my miles come from attending VRCC events, where ever they may be...

See ya at InZane  uglystupid2

I just looked on the wall in the shed where I write down maintenance stuff with a sharpie...

I started riding my Valkyrie in Feb of 07...

I'm getting about 10K a year.

My bought-new 98 Harley never broke 10K on the odometer while I had it, sold it when
I got the Valkyrie...

That happens when you already own one and go to an Estate sale and make an offer on a newer model, in this case a C5, that is about 7K under book value.  You figur they will never accept your offer but then the estate manager says OK and you find you have just purchased a second one.  After that I had my 94 C4 for sale but in this market ....  so, I decided to keep both for a while.

The same happened during a bike purchase some years ago.  I pays to have cash in hand when doing such deals.  The smell of cash overpowers their financial sense and you end up with a great deal.  I got a similar deal on my Valk three years ago.
