I have started to notice a high pitched whine/whistle at 55 mph, 5th gear and 2500 RPM on my '03 Standard. The noise does not apperar to be present at 2500 rpm in any other gear, however I would not rule out engine noise canceling out the whine/whistle in other gears. Anybody have experience with this?

What if you pull in the clutch lever at 55 does the whine stop ?

The gears whine on my Valk at 55 mph, It's normal, one reason I use earplugs. hoser Sraight pipes will cure it too. At least you won't hear it, or anything else!  hoser |

Switch oils some help it quiet down other wise its normal  |

I use Mobil 1 motorcycle oil. I don't think a change of oil will help. However I have two gallons of Amsoil motorcycle oil in the barn for the next two oil changes.

Yes...ride faster. :cooldude:Redline Ya, I have been taking it easy on some mountain and river roads. The upside is my fuel mileage has ranged from a low of 35 mpg to a high of 46.6 mpg with an average of 40 mpg. This is up from my usual of 33 mpg. |
