Whatever it is, it's better in the wind.

For 20 + years my better half has been ridding on the back, keeping me company and puuting up with my antics. 10 years ago when we got our Valk she started really enjoying our long distance outings, and my antics of scraping hard stuff on a bike that was "not designed for that". Well about 2-3 years ago in Germany she rumbeled about wanting to try being the front seater, and I was all for it, now that said, she did not want to get her license in Germany, I guess still a bit intimidating. Then on the ride to Inzane III (Finland) she saw one of our friends' wifes rinding and she was more determined than ever to give it a shot. Well about 5 weeks ago she took the MSF course and got her license, we bought her a Suzuki S40 (650cc) and she was happy, unfortunately the weather has been so screwy that we never got a real chance to ride until the past weekend. Saturday the weather looked gloomy but she wanted to go so we went, under cloud covered skies we did a short 30 miles through one of our local roads that does have some turns but nothing too chalenging, she did great, yesterday she wanted to go again,  (of course I am always ready to ride) and we went and she did 75 miles (with one long break) and looked like a pro, I was so impressed and happy for her that I wanted to share it with the rest of the crew here. This woman was scared poopless on the first Parking lot ride on her new bike and now she has this fat grin and keeps asking when can we go again.
I am so proud of her.
thansk for listening.

You are a lucky man  cooldude

Gotta be a great feeling to have a riding partner for either the back or with two bikes!

Congrats to her  Wink

It's nice to have your best friend and partner along, no matter if on the back seat or her own bike, but yeah, it's a LOT nicer when she's got her own bike!

Mine decided to get her own bike and we picked up a used Honda Helix (250cc scooter).

That was fun, but she didn't like trying to get it on the freeway. Three weeks later, we picked up a new Honda Silverwing (600cc scooter, would do 118 with ME on it!)

That was fun too, but still not fast enough for her...

Now she rides a bike even faster than the Valkyrie... ST1300...

Congrats to your wife Yuri.  It takes a little courage and determination to learn to ride.  I went thru the same thing with my wife some years ago (250cc - 600 - 800 - 1100).

I have been thinking of contacting you for a ride one of these weekends, but like you said (elsewhere), it has been great during the week, and rainy weekends (I'm retired so I go when I want).  This coming weekend is looking to be sunny.  And I am fine with taking it easy if she wants to go.  Short or long is good too.  You have my email, let me know if you want to hook up sometime.... takes me about an hour & fifteen to get to Winchester.

Congrats to your wife! I too hope to be able to celebrate this in a few months, I bought my bride of 30 years a Shadow Aero 750 this past week. She will be taking the course in July. She is scared but very determined. I'm sure she'll do well. Again congratulations!! Larry Gill in East China Mi.

Congratulations Yuri!  cooldude
Nothing better than having a permament riding partner. My life got better when I bought my Valk. Got a little better when Kim decided she wanted in on the riding action.
Started out with her 750.

She was a trooper on that 750. No way I would or could ride that little V-twin that far!  Shocked

Not long after she learned how to ride my Valk & I knew if I ever wanted it back I would have to get her a Valk of her own!  Grin

Mission accomplished.

The wife having her own bike has doubled our riding pleasure, trips are now MUCH easier to take with 2 Valks to carry luggage. When we get to our destination we mostly ride 2 up leaving the other bike to hold our parking spot. A handy thing to have at some destinations that are short on parking like Key West or St. Augustine.
I hope you & your wife have as much fun as we have on our Valks!
Ride with your Bride!!!

Way cool!  I've always wished my wife would be interested in riding and getting her own bike...
Unfortunately, she really doesn't care for anything more than a short putt around the block and I don't think I'll ever get into  shoe / purse/clothes shopping - so I think we'll always have our separate "hobbies"....

you are a lucky man!

Congratulations to you and your wife, Yuri!

You are ahead of us by a few miles, but I'm enjoying the same phenomenon here.  Janet took the Beginner MSF course while I was at the GOTF weekend before last.  We bought an '02 Shadow 750 ACE yesterday (2,900 miles and looks brand new) and she did great in the elementary school parking lot practicing probably 100 starts and stops.  Moving on to the larger high school parking lot today to practice more starts (simulating first in line at the light lefts & rights) and stops.  She's already asking when I think she'll be ready to ride around the neighborhood.  I said not so fast.  (but it won't be long at all)

It was GREAT to see the grin on her face and how proud of herself she was.

Working a deal on her second bike now.   cooldude   I might get that second Valkyrie after all...   Cool
