One of the other forums I used to belong to published a list of members with their location and phone number for emergency purposes.  Being on this list was optional.  All sorts of people were on it - those with trailers and tools, those with mechanical know-how, and those just willing to give a ride to a stranded fellow member.

This list was a "don't leave home without it" item for any one of us taking long trips.  It was great to know that in an emergency situation, help was only a phone call away.

So my questions are - does the VRCC already have such a list and if so, how do I find it?  If not, any reason why?  Is there any interest in developing such a list if it does not already exist?

I might be wrong, but I think there is a link on the home page called "Vortex".  That is where you can find that kind of info.  You have to login with your member number and password to access it.

It's listed on the main VRCC homepage as Vortex.

You will find it is much outdated and in need of a serious update (or deletion). I would guess that less then 20% are still good contacts.

My info is still up-to-date but these Valks are so dependable, I've never been called.

Thanks guys.  I'll check out the Vortex link.

EDIT:  Checked the link.  I see what you mean: "Last revised: June 10, 2009"

Thanks for the reminder.  Even though the cell # was still good, I did move last year.  So today's date should be the newest revision.

HA!  Too funny.  And to tell the truth, I did belong to an HD forum when I had my Night Train.  But come to think of it - I don't remember such a list on that site.  Figures the one time you need it...

I was refering to the TDR (Turbo Diesel Registry) for Dodge Cummins owners.  Which - since those are reliable vehicles as well (no Ford vs. Chevy vs. Dodge vs. Volvo vs. Isuzu vs. Mercedes vs. Detriot vs. ____ diesel flaming, please) - makes you wonder why they had the list in the first place.

The revision date refers to the header page, not to the list itself.  I KNOW the list has had some updates since then.

However, I encourage any and all to update as appropriate.

Unfortunately, there are many issues that make our Vortex list not something you should rely on.  Since we don't keep track of "current" members, there are many thousands of folks on Vortex that don't even have a Valkyrie any longer.  I joined the VRCC in '99 with member number 3185.  So, there are members listed from over 10 years ago and very few of those have current info in their membership details.  The data in the list is pulled from our member database dynamically each time you do a search so its only as accurate as our members make it.

To be honest, I think you would find help quicker by calling someone you know and having them post for help here on the board.

FYI:  if you join the AMA online with auto-renewal, you get their towing service for free. (not that you would need it. Smiley )

Could we get a 'new' version and have people sign up and do away with the other?

One thing about the POS Harley... can still get the Parts ifyou need them.

28,000 confirmed trouble free miles on My FLHT. For those that now what that is, is good.

Hope this dooes not seem crass, but I have helped more than a few Valkyries back on the road

after they have broken down.

A dependable motorcycle only stays that way with regular maintenance.

So keep on pampering the Valk and it will run for at least 400,000 miles ask DDT.
