I'm still researching hard bag saddlebag options and I came across the Mustang leather (vinyl) covered/studded bags while surfing around the internet.

I know these are kinda pricey, but with used OEM Valk saddlebags going for around $1200 and up in the classifieds and on Ebay, about 750 don't seem all that bad of a price for the Mustang's.....plus they have a cool factor with the faux studded leather.

Does anybody have these mounted....what do you think of them....are they lockable?

And most important, any pictures of them mounted to a Valk?

I, or more accurately, my wife just bought a set to replace some sagging leather bags. They seem to be very well made and will probably look good on the bike. They are locking bags. I'm still in the installation stage, don't want to make a mistake. My wife really likes the look and they match our Mustang seats. Personally, I prefer the look of leather bags, but these will be fine. An impressive detail is that they put them in a fiberglass shipping container to protect them. I bought them directly from the factory, but learned, after the fact, that Cruiser Customizing, www.cruisercustomizing.com, is selling them at a good discount.

I'll post some pictures once the installation is complete.

I was seriously looking at buying those bags as they are pretty sharp looking. What deterred me from buying them was if they got damaged (ripped, torn, scuffed, etc.) you'll have to live with the blemish where as a painted fiberglass bag (i.e. Tsukayu) you can get them repainted.

I had saddleman bags on my Vulcan and I really liked them. You may also want to look at the leatherlyke bags. they are fiberglass, but textured to look like leather and are available w/ studs or studs and conches. I've never owned them, but I've never heard anything bad about them.

Actually, the leatherlyke bags have a history of cracking and require the owner to beef them up ....

Ditto.....I've heard the same thing about the Leatherlyke.  Cracking around the mounting holes and the locks are said to be weak.

I've already got the OEM Honda leather Valkyrie bags on my bike, but I want to step it up to some hard bags for more room.......and with locks.

I've looked at the Leatherlyke and have ruled them out.  I've also looked at Boss Bags, Invicta and Champions as well as the stock OEM's.

So far, I've narrowed it down to (starting in first preference), the OEM hard bags, Champion's, the Mustang bags and the Tsukayu bags.

I've seen them in person and plenty of pics of the OEM's, and have seen pics of the Champions.....I've also seen plenty of pics of the Tsukayus including the Jumbo Strongs.....but before I commit one way or the other, I'd really like to see some good pics of some of the Mustang bags on a Valk.

Anybody put these on your Valk yet?  Sure would like to see 'em if you have.

I had the Leatherlyke on when I got my 97.  I put another 10,000 miles on them.  NO PROBLEMS.  I then went with a set of IS saddlebags.

The key is, DO NOT push down on the bag, stuffing things in it.  If you need to stuff, put a hand under the bag to support it.  When you push down, you are stressing the mounting holes.  This causes them to crack.

Took one minute to take them both off to pull the rear wheel, versus the time to remove saddlebag guards and IS saddlebags now!
