Does anyone know what causes the "odd smell" from using Rotella T, 5w-40 Synthetic oil? Does this smell go away over time? Or do you just get used to it?
I have always run the Amsoil and recently switched. Shocked

I have heard that Rotella T Synthetic is not a true synthetic...  some kind of wax stuff????

I have used it before and may use it again, but got some AMSOIL and Mobil One on hand for now.

Pavalker, I've only used AMSOIL in my bike and happy with it. Just not the price. I used to get it for $7.00 per quart from a friend/dealer. That deal is no longer available for me and it's almost $12.00 per quart now. I can't really say it does anything magical, that any other oil wouldn't do? I've never heard of any type of oil related problems in the Valkyrie, other than clutch problems from using the wrong type of oil. The engine seems to be bullet proof, everyone I know runs a different oil and swears buy it. Probably cause the Valk engine is so good and no one has any problems no matter who's oil they swear buy?
I'm just looking for other alternatives cause I won't pay the AMSOIL price anymore, but geeze I don't like that smell of Rotella.
Thanks Sharkey cooldude
