Flying out to San Diego, California and driving up to Carlsbad to spend a week.  Haven't been to CA in over 20 years.  Any "tips" on driving I-5 from the airport to Carlsbad?  Also, we'll  be venturing down to San Diego for a day or two by cage and wonder if there is anything special I need to be aware of while driving anywhere to and from that area too......other than the traffic - it was a pistol 20 years ago and I can only imagine it has not improved overthe years.   Cheesy

TIA ! Smiley

I can only say there will be alot more traffic. 20 years is a long time. Try to stay off the freeways.

10-04 what BigMac says......

If you do run the freeway, try to stay to the right 2 lanes if possible, till ya get the feel for the traffic.

Otherwise ur arse will be run over...........   chewed up and spit out as dog food....

Make sure you've got a GPS with you, do your best to avoid commute hours (which are unfortunately about 24 hours day and night).  Call the Visitors Centers and or city of Commerce in the areas you are traveling and get their feedback. Plan your routes out ahead of time.

If your not accustomed to lane-splitting don't feel compelled if the conditions warrant it.

DFragn, don't think he will be on a bike.  I might be wrong....

Don't be scared. Use plenty of cell phones and go like hell. It's normal and almost legal everywhere out west.

My Daughter would be glad to help with the operation of 3 at once if you get by Vegas. She's a medical professional so she's been trained to do this.

Make sure you wear a t-shirt with a big American flag on it.  I hear they love the flag out there.   Roll Eyes

Be sure and get the insurance the rental place offers.

Your car insurance will NOT pay the daily rental after an accident till it is road worthy again........   There's does.......
