Let's   say I break into your house. . .

A  lady wrote the best letter in the  Editorials in ages!!! It explains  things better than all the  baloney you hear on  TV.

Her  point:

Recently,  large  demonstrations have taken place across the country, protesting  the  fact that Congress is finally addressing the issue of illegal   immigration.

Certain  people are angry that the U.S.  might protect its own borders,  might make it harder to sneak into  this country and, once here, to  stay  indefinitely.

Let  me see if I correctly understand  the thinking behind these  protests.
Let's  say I break into your house.  Let's say that when you discover me in  your house, you insist that  I leave.

But  I  say, "I've  made all the  beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and  swept the  floors. I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm   hard-working and honest (except  for  when I broke into your house).

According  to the  protesters:

You  are  Required to  let me stay in  your house.
You  are  Required to  add me to your  family's insurance plan.
You  are  Required to  Educate my  kids.
You  are Required  to  Provide other  benefits to me & to my family  (my  husband will do all of your yard  work because he is also  hard-working and honest, except for that  breaking in  part).

If  you try to call the police or  force me out, I will call my friends  who will picket your house  carrying signs that proclaim my  RIGHT to  be  there. It's  only fair, after all, because  you have a nicer house than I do, and  I'm just trying to better  myself. I'm a hard-working and honest,  person, except for well,  you know, I did break into your house. And  oh yeah, I get a free  education, where you have to pay your own way  through  college.(TEEHEE)
And  what a deal it is  for me!!!

I  live in your house, contributing  only a fraction of the cost of my  keep, and there is nothing you  can do about it without being accused  of  cold,

uncaring,  selfish, prejudiced, and  bigoted behavior.

Oh   yeah, I   DEMAND that  you learn MY   LANGUAGE!!!     So  you can communicate with me. And don't  forget to make sure your  forms are in MY language - I need to  understand  them...

Why  can't people see how ridiculous  this is?!   Only in  America  !
If  you agree, pass it on  ( in   English  ).
Share  it if you see the value of it.

If  not blow it  off.........
Along  with your future Social  Security funds, and a lot of other   things!

If a US citizen enters another country "illegally", former presidents have to go bargain for your release.     uglystupid2

AMEN, Brother!

If people would take the time to actually READ the law instead of listening to the talking heads on TV, there would be considerably less opposition.  As a matter of fact I believe it was even presented in Spanish; however, from the responses of the loud minority, it is evident reading is not a priority for them.  The majority of us in Arizona do support the law.
There seems to be a large amount of misundertanding around what is and is not acceptable behavior for a police officer, and that missunderstanding is NOT on the side of the police officers themselves. What part of "ILLEGAL" do the protestors not understand?  If I do something that causes a cop to focus attention on me, I expect to have to show my ID.  And I do have to have a valid form of identification - it's the law.   If I were here illegally, I guess I would protest...

Legal Immigration founded this country.  The last line of Emma Lazarus' famous poem is "I lift my lamp beside the golden DOOR."  It does not say "Climb my walls and break into my house and I'll take care of you."

"Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

It's impossible,.....especially whe the top politician, the president, is spreading untruths about this law.  He is perpetuating the "let me see your papers" bullcrap.  And what about Arnold's speech saying he was supposed to speak in AZ but was afraid he get deported to Austria.  A55holes!

Other countries are getting tried too...

Australia Stands Up - Second Time he has done this

He's done it again..
He sure isn't backing down on his hard line stance and one has to appreciate
his belief in the rights of his native countrymen.

A breath of fresh air to see someone lead.
I wish some leaders would step up in Canada & USA .

Australian Prime Minister does it again!!

This man should be appointed King of the World.. Truer words have never been
spoken.

It took a lot of courage for this man to speak what he had to say for the
world to hear.  The retribution could be phenomenal, but at least he was
willing to take a stand on his and Australia 's beliefs.

Whole world needs a leader like this!

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd - Australia

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to
get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head
off potential terror attacks..

Separately, Rudd angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he
supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote:

'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT.. Take It Or Leave It.
I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some
individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have
experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians. '

'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and
victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom'

'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese,
Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our
society . Learn the language!'

'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing,
political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian
principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is
certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God
offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your
new home, because God is part of our culture.'

'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that
you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you
every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining,
whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or
Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great
Australian freedom, 'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.'

'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You
asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'

Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves in Canada & USA , WE will find
the courage to start speaking and voicing the same truths.

"Logic" and "politician" (and there derivatives) do not belong together in the same sentence.   tickedoff

Australia is a beautiful place, and Rudd is an interesting individual, but I wouldn't like to live there. I feel we have some unreasonably restrictive gun control laws in the US, I am not impressed with the Australian Labor Party's stand on that particular issue.

Not Hijacking, just pointing out that the grass on the other side may be greener, but all that fertilizer is likely to stink.

While I would be overjoyed to find out that Rudd actually said this, it just isn't entirely true.  First and foremost, Rudd never said any of this.  Former PM Howard is the one who originally spoke out about Muslim immigrants.

http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/australia.asp

The message is spot on, but it was not delivered in the manner that it is here.

Not trying to piss anyone off, I'm just a fact checker and hate when erroneous information is spread.  (I call my dad out all the time for spreading half-truths and false-truths via email).

It does, however, appear that most of the people that are for boycotting AZ, have not even read the law.  It's only 11 pages long, is it too much to ask people to read and think, rather than believe whatever they hear?
