Picked up some rear speakers from Wingstuff and the rear speaker wire harness from Electrical Conn. and would like to know how you ran your wires.

Did you end up drilling into the trunk?

Did you also drill into the speaker compartment?

Doesn't look like the wire length, as provided, will reach to the boxes/compartments without adding an extension.

Any help/guidance much appreciated.

i frillked both, i also had to add wire. the ones that were oem came out of speakers behind the passenger back rest. then just ran them under the seat. never had a problem with them that way either. this will be the first year with "kinda" hidden.

I also added more wire and brought it in through the hole underneath.  Had the trunk all apart to add guard rails so this was a good time to do speakers.  Drilled a hole by right hinge to get to speaker.  Left the wire behind the back rest.  Not sure how it was originally.  Speakers were there when I bought it.  Wire was just hanging out of the right speaker compartment going under seat.

Used Electrical Connection harness. DID NOT have to add length, there was plenty. I didn't want that gray wire run external, like the OEM (black) because it would stick out like a sore thumb.

I ran it with the rest of the wires down the right side truck bracket, drilled the bottom of the trunk towards the front right area and ran the wires up in the trunk. With the inside part of the trunk out I drilled a hole in each side of the inside trunk right where the trunk lid hinges attach and ran the wires in the void of the trunk between the outside shell and inside trunk up through the hole near the hinges. I then drilled into the lid behind the speaker pod and ran the wires through the rest of the way. So for the drilling and such, you work from the right side cover where they plug in to the bike back to the speaker pods running the wires.

The important part is that after you do all this that you unplug the harness at the right side cover, and take it all out again. Then ran the wire again, this time from the speakers to the right side. I ended up with a little bit of slack at the right side cover doing it this way, and no external gray wire to look at.

Thanks for all the input.

I had done a quick and dirty install yesterday just to be able to finish without drilling for now. Wire runs along the trunk rail as suggested. I had some flex split wire plastic cover that is currently sheathing the gray wire from the back of the rear seat to the trunk. Wires running behind the passenger backrest and into the side of the speaker housing. Not reaqlly highly visible unless you open the trunk. A temp set up for now. Wire extension used.

I think I will definitely go for a quick disconnect inside the trunk when I finally get to the point of getting her set up for SuperValk mode. Of course I will still need to pull the Electrical Conn harness when in SuperValk I suppose or shield it well in the side cover.

Thanks again.
