Hi all. Been lurking for a while now while drooling over Valks for a long time. Just got a 99 IS which took some doing due to the back-seat director of operations. In order to keep her happy I'll need some mods.
"Sounds like a sewing machine!". No problem; I've read-up here on the piggies/baffles etc. and will progressively move through those steps. After all, SHE will have to live with the drone from the rear.

She wants floorboards for the back. Not much out there. My DQ is thus: are there other boards that may fit the IS? Baffles me that the fitment is so specific. For example, GoldWing - would any of those work for the Valk? Sister bikes and all... Or other brands, even. Anyone 'doctor' a fit to the Valks?

Thanks!

My wife loves the cobra passenger boards.  Also, she hated the smooth, quiet sound of the exhaust.  Installed Mark T "mild to wild" exhaust...  no more complaints from the "director of back seat operations"...   cooldude    Love the sound going down the road.

There are a few companies that made/make passenger boards for the Valk: Show Chrome, Cobra, Rivco, and Kuryakyn. I've had the first three on my bike(s) and the wife likes the Rivcos the best as they are adjustable. My wife is 5' and the non-adjustable boards were too far down for her with the IS bags in the way. These adjust up/down and the angle the board sits at changes as well.
They are no longer made, but can sometimes be found used, or Rivco may make another batch if the interest is there.

As far as I know, the Kury boards are no longer made either. Alph has a set on his IS and they look very nice.

Here is my IS with the Rivcos installed:

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

SO likes the cobras also. I'm working on making a mount to add aditional pegs above the cobras to give her additional footing. Should be done by the Whiskey Run.

I have a set of Kuryakyn "constellation" boards on passenger location of my 99 I/S. I had a problem with the mounte that they said would fit and didn't. Called them and they sent another set that did fit, NO CHARGE. I do not know if they still make them or not, it has been a couple of years since I've put them on. I do like the looks of them on my Valk.
I hope this helps some,
Paul

I have no idea if boards will fit between the GL and Valk, but I've never heard of anyone doing it.

You could just buy a new set of the adjustable Rivcos for the low, low price of $425!

A lot of people are putting the Transformers for the 1800 Wing on their Valks. Warlock came up with a good mod that allows fitment, they are awesome! Plus they are CHROME, which is an added bonus. I have a set on my Interstate and they are just great for the passenger as they can adjust them to move their legs a little on longer rides. Good Luck!

You got any pictures of them installed Doug ? I remember when David did a post on that on the old board. I've got Cobra passenger floorboads on my Interstate and you can watch the chrome fly off them going down the road  Sad

Do yourself a favor Darkmeister, be patient and listen to someone elses before you cut piggies and especially if your'e contemplating drilling out your baffles.  I cut my piggies and it sounded cool but after riding it that way for several years, I kind of wish I hadn't.  AND....there is rumblings of limiting the decibel level of motorcycles, to the point that aftermarket exhaust companies are quieting there exhausts down.
