Quick question: Had my 2000 Interstate serviced at local dealer, (wanted valves checked and new timimg belts put on) and she returned a bit grubbier than when she left. While shining, I noticed that the petcock assembly had some movement to it, which I hadn't noticed before. The whole petcock can be moved up and down about a half inch. I see that a flat aluminum arm extends to the left from the assembly, with one small black bolt through it. I snugged up on that, but it made no difference.
Is this movement normal, and I just never noticed it before? (I only have owned her since December) Or, in the process of the service, which included a new air cleaner, could something have been loosened, or, a bolt left out? Appreciate any comments or ideas. Thanks in advance. Mike
The moving thing is probably the chromed plastic knob. Mine was all wobbly when I got it. A #2 phillips down the middle of the knob and the bolt you're talking about will
get the knob off and you can see where it attaches to the petcock. Once you see how it works, you can figger out how to put a washer or two in there where the black
bolt goes and get the knob to be not wobbly. It might be scary if your actual petcock is loose...
