In planning my trip to Inzane noticed that I-29 north of Sioux Falls has about a 5 mile stretch that shows as CLOSED.  Microsoft Streets and Trips show it closed until July 23, 2010.

Anyone have any information on this stretch of highway?  Viable detours in the area?  Has it been reopened?

Tried the South Dakota board and last post on there was for Inzane IV.  Need some active members up there.

Didn't see anything about road closures on I-29. But there are some "Lane" closures on I-29 from Sioux Falls to the Madison Exit. and other construction issues.

http://www.sddot.com/sfprojects/other.asp

Look at #4 and #7 at the above address for the I-29 info.

But they don't say anything about a complete closing of I-29

OOoo just found this one

It's a good one too. A map showing the construction and traffic affects.

I will shoot my brother an e-mail....he works for FEMA and is in South Dakota now. He may know, he deals with the disasters affecting roads.

Thanks a million.  Looks like we should not really have much trouble going through that area after all.  Just trying to plan ahead and avoid any possible conflicts.

Would hate to have the 'Early Bird' arrive late.

The east bypass is a quicker route to I-90 anyway, if that's where you're going, it misses the downtown area.  hoser

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

They were working on it last year around there. Still moved fast. How far north are you going? If you are heading east from SF SD take US 20 in Iowa. Flows fast and is 4 lane, well 90% of it. Still 70 mph speed limit.
