I just ordered some Gold Wing rotors and will be changing them out soon. Do you really have a use for the old rotors? You are welcome to my old ones if you will pay for shipping.

they don't need turning unless u were metal to metal and have deep groves. new oem pads or equivalent not organic will re-surface them and work fine. this is the same for the auto industry also, this is all a result of the new brake pad materials and designs.

EBC rotors here........

Love them.......

Also I use their pads.......

DO NOT use EBC pads on EOM rotors.....   Bad news for noise that bothers some of the riders.

Thanks gentlemen. I took the new front and rim in to have the new tire installed today. Asked about turning rotors and the tire guy, Allen, told me pretty much the same thing. So, I'm happy. Got new pads the other day and will probably get another 5+ k miles on the ones on now. So I'll be good to go when needed.

I understand that GW rotors will fit the front, but the GW rotors are thinner than the stock Valkyrie rotors.

Valk front rotors -- 5mm new---- 4mm they are junk.
GL1800 front rotors -- 4.5mm new---- 3.5mm junk.
Same pads for both. I figure if Honda says they are good enough at 4.5 to 3.5 thickness range to stop a GW they are plenty good enough to stop a Valk.
Like saving the $$$ too!  cooldude  Cool

Why couldn't you run the valk rotors to 3.5?

I think that is from the manual.

You know they have to stay within boundaries when promulgating standards.

The drop dead maximum limit is considerably greater.

OK.......Ill rephrase......theres no way to turn a valkyrie rotor that is already worn, and make it smooth again AND still have it be within specs.  You only get .5mm on each side to work with and that includes the wear and the turning.  Lets just suppose you only used .25mm on each side due to wear.  you would be limited to removing .25mm with the lathe to have a "legal" rotor.  I know from experience....once you recognize the rotor to be worn, ridged, or in need of "turning"  Its considerably more than .25mm worn and it would take considerably more than removing .25mm to get it smooth.

Yes you can put any rotor on a lathe, doesnt mean you should

Hey Jeff, when I took the wheel in for the swap out, the mechanic said mine looked good, so no need to turn or replace. If and when they're shot, I want to put in an order for a Valk Rotor Lazy Susan.

Marty, I never really thought about selling these.........If I dont get the bolts with the rotors then each one costs me about $50 to put together...... no one has really asked to purchase these.....so I suppose I didnt think anyone would wanted to spend their chrome money .....LOL

I guess if you and steve start a tidal wave of interest here, I may be a busy dude eh?  Sounds like about the time many of the older bikes are needing their rotors replaced
