Problems with rear wheel reinstall
«

While replacing final drive ,I went darkside with goodyear triple tread 205/60/R16. With everything back together the tire rubs against the drive shaft. Anybody know what I`m doing wrong? Had it off twice and can`t figure it out. I did remove the nut cages.

Just did mine with The GTT also and can get 4 credit cards between there. Don't know what could be different on yours. How much air you got in it?

All swingarms are not identical with regard to clearance.
You could hammer the area to relieve the interference if it is not too severe.
A 205/55/16 might work better since it will move the rubbing part of the tire towards the axle more.
This has been a problem for a few Valks, you're not alone!
Have you determined how much interference there actually is?
If it's slight and only affecting the raised portion of the sidewall you could grind a little of that to relieve the interference. It will not affect the tire if you are careful to avoid grinding the carcass proper.
Some tires will have a lesser profile width in the same size although I cannot tell you which tires these would be. They are all not identical even though the size numbers are the same!

i had the same problem a few years back when i installed a 225/55/16 on the rear of my bike..if you remove that wheel again and look at the inside of your driveshaft..you'll see thats theres more material on the inside that make it look square..just take a grinder and remove that extra material and spray paint it black again..you should have no more rub on the driveshaft.

Just for clarification here. We're talking about grinding on the swingarm not the driveshaft and repainting where you grind on it.
