I haven't had to ask for much help here the last 11 years (been very dependable) but I need some now. Pulled her (99 standard) out of the humid garage last night, warmed 'er up and noticed that she sounded weird, noisy motor and then backfiring if given any throttle , and then the cobra spotlights (installed per cobras instructions 10 years ago) went out. I began checking fuses and lookin' for anything out of the ordinary. No luck. Seems like the right side (1,3,5) is super weak (all I can hear is the left side working) I can pull all 3 plug wires off at the same time with no noticable difference. I thought it was extremly weird that the spot lights went out at the same time also. I know this is very limited info, but thats all I really have right now. TIA

I would guess low voltage/bad battery. Check it at the terminals/not running...should be at least 13v. Shouldn't drop below 12 with key/lights on.

Thanks for the quick reply. Checked the voltage, it's a little low=12.70. Charging now.

12.7 V measured at the terminals is a good battery....100% charged. http://www.yuasabatteries.com/faqs.php?action=1&id=30I'd start looking elsewhere...while you're charging anyway.

Based upon your limited info. If 1,3,5 is not working the only thing in common is the gas line. Maybe that side is stopped up???? Check a carb bowl (1,3,5) to see if you have gas.

How long has it been parked. Could something be blocking the airbox to that side? I had a car parked in a barn while I was in boot camp. I came back to a family of mice living in my air cleaner.

I had the exact same situation last night...at first no gas in #1,3,5...none. The bike sat for about 25 minutes while i was checking things out (I had just wired in running lights). Tried to start it and she took right off. It stalled on the road twice, and had no gas in any carb bowls. Turned out to be an air lock in my quick-connect hose I have in my gas line.

Will do the same thing if theres not enough gas in the tank and its NOT on reserve when it needs to be. The cobras light bar switch just "goes out" very common, so the two symptoms arent necessarily connected PS I wont laugh if it was a reserve thing (very hard)
