can anyone tell me :
if i drill out the rivets that hold the bottom plate on the swing arm, and remove the bottom plate
- how big space i would have to mount some extras ? (lenght x width)
- would this decrease the functional strength of the swing arm ?

i am looking to mount a big speaker/siren somewhere underneath, while leaving as much room as possible...

Thanks in Advance,
Anthony

Is it too big to mount in front of the tire in the area behind the kick stand?

Unless you have a reason for that big siren, they do make some good electronic ones with smaller footprints, needed for a place to install........

No,
it will fit below that bottom plate, but it will pick up a lot of dirt / water while riding, so i was wondering if it could fit a bit higher, so that is is halfway "inside" the swingarm, a bit more protected from the elements on the road.

There's no opening under that plate. You remove the rivets and the plate and all you have is a swing arm with 7 rivet holes. Unless you want to cut the opening out yourself, but that, I think, is not the best idea.

Better to be judged by 12, then carried by 6.

Sirens can take some water. Ours is mounted on the front of our Fire Trucks and ambulances. Never had problems with water. Well, we did have one go out but it was 10 yrs old and 170,000 miles. These are exposed to the elements more then yours would be. We even take the hose to them. You could cover it with speaker material and spray it with hair spray or other water proof spray.

My Stebel Nautilus is mounted to a steel plate that is then held up underneath the bike on the swingarm with two long radiator clamps.  Pic is the first horn faced forward, which sucked up crud and died after a couple years.  New one is now aimed to the rear.

if there is no opening under that plate :
what would i have to drill through, to be able to bolt my stuff to the swingarm ?
is it thick and strong enough to tap some threaded holes in it ?

i assumed it was just that bottom and top plate that covered some hole in the powderpainted swingarm.
i can't damage anything by drilling through the plates, right ??
