Hi bros,

Sunday went to bikes gathering, in a long lefthand turn at 60mph a cage changed lane, the bike in front of me braked hard and I wanted to avoid by going left on the third lane. Started to move but seen a car coming behing. Certainly have braked to much, front wheel went left, lied on the left (buig blue on my hip) slided on my back for about 30yards. Slight pain in right hand only.
The Valk: spedo and tacho gone, headlamp badly dammaged, windshield OOO (out of order), fuel tank badly bended on right side, right mirror gone, egine guards damaged (left is completely flatened) and timing belt box broken on left side (the cover is intact but the part close to the cyl.head is borken). Today the Valk is transfered to Honda dealer for repair. Have full insurance, will pay only a franchise(few hubderds euro).
At the dealer have seen a 1997 Standard with 28000miles, nice looking with a selling price of over 15000US$ !!!! Can have a 2005 GW for this money!!

Thank God your ok.

$15k is way too much in my opinion.  I have some aftermarket mirrors in excellent condition you can have if it will save you any money.

Folks aren't. Glad you're okay.
Now is a great time to start customizing your Valk!  Now that those misc pieces have been knocked out of the way.

Glad to hear you are ok.

I had similar damage to my bike last summer and the Canadian Insurance estimate was over $10K.  I bought a used Interstate tank and a new fiberglass batwing fairing with mounts and windshield on E-Bay.  The OEM parts including engine guard and handlebars I got from Honda direct in the US.  I bought the speedo head in Canada so I could get a metric one.

The other parts you need like the casting behind teh timing belt cover you can likely get from Pinwall parts, they usually have several used ones in their E-bay store.

If you know someone in the States they may be able to get the parts from Honda for you and then forward them as a gift so that you can maybe save some on the import taxes and duty to help you out.

I don't know what the cost of shipping a complete bike is from North America to Europe but I know you can get a car sent from Japan to Vancouver for about $1800 US so it should be cheaper than that to get a bike shipped.  I think Dag did this so he may be able to give you an idea on costs involved.

Good luck

Hi Sasha,

Only damage to the Valk - that's not pleasant but you're lucky.
With full insurance I guess you 'll have no worries.

Do not hesitate to contact me or French VRCC if parts are missing.

Luckilly, the Valk is fully insured, even my pants, gloves and jacket will be taken into account.
The Valk was transfered yesterday to the nearby Honda dealer where vhere the expert for the insurer will evaluate the repairs to perform. Hope everything will be ready in two-three weeks 'cause the weather is fine here.

Many thanks for your kind messages! cooldude cooldude cooldude

Glad you area OK.  And I hope you are right about it being fixed in 2-3 weeks.  When I hit a deer a couple years ago, my bike sat at the dealer for 3 weeks and, even though they had the check in hand from the insurance company, had not even ordered the parts for it.  I ended up pulling it from the dealer, took it home, and fixed it myself pocketing about $2000 in the process...actually I spent it all on accessories. cooldude
