Yesterday was my first day working at Wholly Crepe, a small French Crepe cafe in the mall. I applied about a month and a half ago, but didn't get the job. Aline, one of the owners, called a few nights ago and said they changed their mind and would like to hire me. It interfered with a few summer plans, but I told them as long as I could make Tucumcari we'd be in good shape. They said that was fine.
My first day was yesterday and it was just a trial day to see if they liked me and I fit in well with the job, and it went pretty smoothly (other than grabbing the floor cleaner instead of the dish soap to use on the dishes....) Before I went home, I was hired!
I went back in today, and it was A LOT more crazy! One of the shelves fell in the middle of the night and cooking oil had spilled ALL over the floor, and there was broken glass everywhere, and cream, mustard, spices, chocolates- everywhere. And who gets to clean it up? Yours truly. Smiley It was tough because everything spilled in the kitchen where the food gets cooked, and there was so much oil on the floor we were all slipping and sliding. Then when anyone would walk through it, it would get on their shoes, and make the cleaner parts of the floor slippery. It was a huge mess, to say the least. But, I got it cleaned and all the glass picked up and saved whatever didn't get broke open in the fall. Then I chopped up some fruits, washed dishes, and got to take out the super giant dumpster with my super cute co-worker, Jake. (That made crawling around in oil and glass for an hour worth it Grin )
I go back on Tuesday and am actually looking forward to it! I get to do a little bit of everything like chopping, dishes, running the cash register, taking orders- it keeps it more fun and interesting.
So excited!! So, if anyone is ever in the mood for a crepe.. I can hook ya up! Wink

Thank you, RJ!
And don't worry about the labor laws- 16 and older, and you can get a job. I'm 16 and 7 months. Smiley

Good luck with the new job Lil Bit  cooldude
Let me tell you about my first job...I was a busboy at a local resturant. On the last night of my first week, I dropped a whole stack of plates and broke them. The owner told me they were coming out of my paycheck. The next day, I got my pay envelope.... he took all my money and I still owed him $12.50 I left and never went back...lol

We need another responsible hard working citizen and I'm glad you have managed to step up to the task  cooldude  Just ask all these geezers on the board how old they were when they rode a Valkyrie for the first time.... 2funny  2funny

My first job outside of a family business was a Life Guard at a Water Slide.

Watching the ladies slide out their tops as they hit the splash pool.

Tough job , but someone had to do it.

Twin Water Ski-Doo was the name of the place.

It was in Pigeion Forge Tennessee, and I was 16 with a Hippie Van. Bed in the back and all.

It's where I lived for 4 months.

Congrats Lit Bit! Now you need to convince the owners that a booth at a small gathering in Michigan is just the ticket and we can all enjoy your new found talents! I'm sure you will excel at your job beyond there expections. JDW
